Check Out Emily Pitcairn’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Pitcairn.

Hi Emily, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I feel like my love for music was something that I was not only born with, but lucky enough to have a father who nurtured it. He was a DJ, and put me onto some really great music and always encouraged my big rockstar dreams. He died when I was 17, and the only thing that seemed to matter during that time was music. Early days of releasing and performing music were under the stage name “hiFi”, which was his DJ name and, for a while, felt like a nice nod to him. As more time went on, I had a bit of an identity crisis about how much of myself and my music was wrapped up in him, and in January of 2025 I changed the name to Whiskey Ginger- a name that doesn’t have much more meaning than it being my go-to drink at the bar (ginger beer over ginger ale, if anyone’s wondering). Whiskey Ginger is my brainchild, supported and elevated by lead guitarist Liam Lynch, and bassist Mia Peach.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly not, but I suppose the saying that if you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life, feels pretty true. It’s hard work, but it is incredibly rewarding and has made my life better in so many ways.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Whiskey Ginger is an alternative rock band, and my personal therapeutic outlet. I’m very excited for our upcoming EP, “spilling out”, which is made up of songs that we are all incredibly proud of.

How do you think about happiness?
Music and community! I feel so elated to be able to share music and to be a part of a community that uplifts and celebrates the arts, especially in a time where the world at large and our future feels so scary.
