Check Out Kimberly MCCoy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly MCCoy.

Hi Kimberly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The idea was my mother’s (her name is Jean)

Sweet Jeanius was started in 2015 at Prep Atlanta, which acted as a small business incubator. They helped with all things business… not only the space for the business, but also marketing, menu development. permitting and opportunities to sell.

2015 was really the start of explosion of food trucks in the Atlanta area.

Over the course of time, where I baked my products changed, but the concept never did.

I specialize in desserts! Specifically classic desserts that my mom, grandmother, aunts and great aunts made. I use their recipes. Most of my desserts are recognizable: Brownie Turtle Sundae, Strawberry Shortcake, Old Fashion Lemon Cake and Chocolate Chip Cookies. We add seasonally favorites, for example a pumpkin cookie in the fall or red velvet cake during the holidays.

Although we can bake just about anything, most of our events are large, so our clients are typically looking for popular dessert selections that will appeal to most.

I did not grow up in the “social media” era, so that part of the business is lacking, but I pride myself on an excellent product and excellent service and we have managed to sustain a business on word of mouth and client referrals for more than a decade.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have not had “huge” struggles, but I believe that’s because we have had slow steady growth. We don’t over book. Our goal has never been to have 20 trucks or a brick and mortar retail location. Being in business now 11 years, we see a lot of trucks come and go. I try to keep it simple. I don’t change our concept to get business. We turn down business that is not a good fit.

My biggest challenge has been recently with finding people who will be a good fit to join our team.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As stated before, we specialize in classic desserts. Our house specialties are the brownie turtle sundae and strawberry shortcake. These two items are on almost all of our menus. Both the brownie and the shortcake are made from scratch and recipes that are more than 100 years old.

I am proud of our service. We not only give a exceptional product, but we give it with a smile. “We provide happiness to our customers through desserts”!

I think what sets us apart is the menu. We do it all! Instead of serving just cookies, or just cupcakes, or just ice cream, we serve it all. It’s like ordering dessert off a full service restaurant’s dessert menu.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Baking Christmas cookies with my mom and sister every year. My nieces created a cookbook with all the recipes for us last Christmas !
