Check Out Tamera Hollis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamera Hollis.

tamera, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started in 2017 when I developed a passion for the beauty industry and began doing lashes. What started as something I enjoyed quickly grew into my own brand, The Fly Look. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to build a loyal clientele, strengthen my skills, and create an experience that makes every client feel confident and beautiful.

Entrepreneurship has taught me so much about consistency, customer service, marketing, and what it truly takes to build a business from the ground up. I eventually expanded into my own salon suite, where I’ve been able to continue growing my brand and creating a space that reflects my vision.

At the same time, I’ve continued investing in myself outside of my business. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Albany State University and am currently completing my MBA with a concentration in Marketing at Clayton State University. Balancing entrepreneurship, work, and graduate school hasn’t always been easy, but every experience has helped shape me into the businesswoman I am today.

I’m proud of how far The Fly Look has come, but I still feel like I’m just getting started. My goal is to continue growing as an entrepreneur, expand my brand, and use everything I’ve learned through both business and education to create even bigger opportunities for myself and others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced seasons where business was booming and other seasons where things slowed down and I had to figure out how to keep going. Building a consistent clientele, staying motivated during slower periods, keeping up with changes in the beauty industry, and learning how to properly market myself have all been part of the journey.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to balance everything. I’ve built my business while working other jobs and pursuing my education, and I’m currently finishing my MBA. There have definitely been moments where I’ve felt overwhelmed or even questioned whether I was on the right path.

I’ve also had to learn not to compare my journey to what I see on social media. Entrepreneurship can look glamorous online, but behind the scenes there are long days, cancellations, financial responsibilities, sacrifices, and a lot of trial and error.

Through all of it, I’ve learned to stay consistent and keep evolving. Every slow season, mistake, and setback has taught me something that has made me a better business owner. I’m still learning as I go, but I think that’s one of the most rewarding parts of the journey being able to look back and see how much both my business and I have grown.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the owner and lash artist behind The Fly Look, a beauty brand I’ve been building since 2017. I specialize in customized lash extensions that are designed to complement each client’s individual features, eye shape, and personal style. I never want my clients to feel like they’re receiving a copy-and-paste lash set. Whether they want something soft and natural or full and wispy, my goal is always to create a look that feels like them.

Over the years, I’ve become known not only for my lash work, but for creating an experience where my clients can feel comfortable, confident, and taken care of. I’ve been fortunate to build relationships with clients who continue to trust me with their lashes, and that loyalty means a lot to me.

What sets The Fly Look apart is the attention I put into the details. I’m constantly learning, investing in my education, improving my techniques, and finding new ways to elevate my business. My background in marketing and my experience as an entrepreneur have also helped me understand that building a strong beauty brand goes beyond providing a service it’s about the entire experience from the moment someone discovers your business to the moment they leave their appointment.

I’m most proud of my consistency and longevity. The beauty industry is constantly changing, and building a business that has continued to grow and evolve over the years is something I don’t take for granted. What started as me simply having a passion for lashes has grown into a brand, a loyal clientele, and something that truly represents me. And even after all these years, I still get excited knowing that my work can help someone leave my chair feeling even more confident than when they walked in.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is that The Fly Look has been ranked among the Top 4 lash salons in Clayton County based on Google reviews. When I started doing lashes in 2017, I never imagined that something I was building from the ground up would eventually receive that type of recognition from the people who actually experience my work.

That accomplishment means a lot to me because it reflects the experiences and feedback of my clients. I’ve built my business through consistency, word of mouth, social media, and creating genuine relationships with the people who sit in my chair.

Being recognized as one of the top-rated lash salons in the area is definitely one of my proudest accomplishments. It reminds me that all of the long days, continued education, and effort I’ve put into perfecting my craft have made an impact. It also motivates me to keep growing The Fly Look and see just how far I can take the brand.
