Today we’d like to introduce you to TSCouture.
Hi TSCouture, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I always had an eye for fashion. But I went to cosmetology school right after graduating high school. I did hair for yearssssss. Even worked with state board with grading other students to pass for their license. One random day a client/friend of mine said she saw a vision on me with clothes. But more like owning a boutique. I didn’t think any more of it. My bestfriend and I later started a consulting firm. I’m moved to Greenville then to Atlanta from my hometown, Columbia SC and did hair for a few years before i happened up on designing. My mom had gifted me a sewing machine and it was just sitting. I was singing with my bestie’s choir, Kevin Lemons and higher calling and he was requesting us to wear long maxi skirts for an event we had coming up. I couldn’t find what I wanted anywhere so I decided to bring the machine out and give it a try. It was decent enough to wear lol! I literally posted it for kicks and giggles but people wanted to order. For weeks I shot it down but because I was still building a clientele in this new city, I thought, why not? Started doing the skirts for $75. Things started booming so much until I stopped doing hair and now 11 years later it’s what I do full time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, no it hasn’t been. BUT, I can really say, i have not promoted me like I really should but God has sustained me all of these years. As an entrepreneur, we have our seasons. But I’ve been extremely blessed.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a clothing designer. I’d say my esthetic is more vintage driven. I love timeless pieces. I love to make things you won’t see on the rack. My audience is mostly my church divas but I’d love to widen my reach. I’m most proud to see a person’s personality and confidence come alive in something crafted by my hands.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
As bold as I show up, I’m really shy. I show up as me because I love the freedom I have to be expressive through my clothing. But I’d really rather be tucked away in a corner. lol
