Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Moreland.
Tara, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in a home where nurturing was second nature. My mom would massage me, my sister, and my brother every morning and every night — gently rubbing our heads and backs to help us relax before going to the babysitter. As we got older, massaging each other became our way of showing care. We never saw it as a career, just a simple act of love.
After high school, I attended Griffin Technical College and majored in Information Computer Systems. While in trade school, I became a banker and worked in banking for five years. I thought my degree would lead me into the computer department at the bank, but God had other plans. Instead, I became a Help Desk Analyst at a warehouse for a year until the company relocated. Then I spent ten years working as a technician for a cellular wireless company.
During that time, I became a mother — and my daughter, Elise, was born with Down syndrome. Every day, I massaged her the same way my mother massaged me. Her doctors were amazed by her mobility and flexibility, and I knew those moments of touch were helping her grow strong. I continued massaging her until her very last day on earth.
After losing her, I returned to banking for another five years. But God began making me uncomfortable there — pushing me toward something greater. In 2022, I finally quit. I enrolled in massage school in Peachtree City, GA, graduated in May 2023, and earned my license that same year.
That’s when everything changed.
I started my business — Spa Elise Wholeness Center, named in honor of my daughter. I worked as a mobile massage therapist for a year, then at Honey Comb Cottage for four months. But God had already shown me a vision: I would have my own spa. I tried to negotiate with Him, asking if I could work at another spa to save money, but His answer was clear — Trust Me.
One Sunday, my former pastor looked at me and said, “Poo, you passed your test? Yes, Good. You’re coming back to Griffin. Your business will be here.” I hadn’t told anyone about the vision God gave me, so I knew this was confirmation.
I started searching for commercial property. After about three months, a landlord called me back. He mentioned a building on the Northside of Griffin. The moment I saw the picture on the door, I knew — this was it. And I’ve been a business owner ever since.
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. And every day, it gets better and better.
Spa Elise Wholeness Center is more than a business — it is a legacy of love, healing, faith, and the beautiful life of my daughter, Elise.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
From 2017 to 2026, Tara became the primary caregiver for multiple family members, including her great‑grandmother, great-aunt, aunt, uncle, and father. She walked through cancer diagnoses, nursing home transitions, surgeries, rehabilitation, and end‑of‑life care — all while managing her household, becoming a wife, and eventually running her business. Through every challenge, Tara leaned on her faith, remembering God’s instruction to Trust Him, even when the road was difficult.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Yes, I am absolutely a risk taker. Stepping out into entrepreneurship and answering the call God placed on my life was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. When I started, I was broke, unsure, and facing the unknown — but I knew I couldn’t ignore my purpose. Massage therapy wasn’t just a career choice; it was the assignment God gave me. Being real with people, I tell them that entrepreneurship is not easy. You face fear, doubt, and the possibility of failure. But I remembered what God told me: Trust Me. And that’s exactly what I did. Every step I’ve taken has been rooted in faith, obedience, and the belief that God equips me for everything He calls me to do.
