Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Arnett.
Hi Cameron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started while at the University of Miami, a pre-med and pre-law student, never even thinking about the fields of film and television. While working at Jackson Memorial hospital, doing EKG’s in the emergency room, one summer, I just decided to do something fun, and I answered an Ad in the paper for “Actors and Models wanted” it was a competition. I ended up winning and entered a few more and ended up winning most of those as well. That sent me on a whole different path, and I found myself now doing local commercials, which lead to national commercials, modeling in print Ads and so on. From Miami, this took me to New York, where acting just took hold over everything.
When I took my first step and entered that competition, it just so happened that my path toward Christ began as well, and the two have been connected ever since, even when it wasn’t so obvious.
It was in NY that I really became an actor, the close proximity to so many great, yet unknown actors was a stimulant in itself, something I couldn’t shake, nor did I want to. And as well, I found my people in the midst of the Church, talent beyond belief, yet submitted to Christ in a way I hadn’t seen before…in this atmosphere things thrived on both ends. However, it was at that point that one began to overtake the other. My convictions as a Christian began to make the decisions, decisions that weren’t always congruent with the choices that were expected for me to take. Oddly enough, it was while in NY that I ended up landing a role on Miami Vice, so I flew back, and while doing the episode, I spent some time at my mothers house. While there, she introduced me to a vibrant ministry having a great impact in California. One day, with my back to the television, the minister was teaching on receiving the Holy Spirit, it was captivating, and…I was captivated, I received the Holy Spirit and life just changed. From that point on, Jesus was first, and nothing else was a close second.
I’m not sure how long after that, and of course, I’m trying to make a long story short, I left NY and headed to California. Everyone thought it was to pursue acting, but in actuality, it was in pursuit of that ministry, it just so happened that acting was there too.
Acting flourished, but it was all about being a son to my Father God. Episodics followed, and at one point I was in Toronto Canada doing a movie of the week when my then manager called me and said “They are really high on you for this new TV series and want to see you”….so, when I got back to California I auditioned and I got the role, my first television series co-lead with a very prominent female co-star. Well, I don’t have to tell you that my manager and I were elated and jumping up and down. And then it happened, the call from my agent as we were preparing to sign on the dotted line…oh, by the way, they need Cameron to do partial body nudity. The room stopped, and the air left.
I said, “I can’t do that, I’m a Christian” and the option came back, well tell Cameron that he won’t have to do the nudity, he can do the acting and we’ll just get him a body double.
At the moment, that sounded good to us, and then I could sense the Holy Spirit tap me on the shoulder and say “You have to shun even the appearance of evil, people will still think that that’s you”
So I said no, and dropped it…well, the agent dropped me, and the drought of a dry California career ensued. Again, long story made short. I left California and came to Atlanta.
Now, newly married, we started a Church at our kitchen table…never thinking I would act again, it was on to ministry and the Pastorate with Hollywood and acting in the rear view mirror.
It was about 15 years later that God, through a series of dreams, supernaturally called us back to the entertainment industry, but this time, as a Kingdom ministry. Through these dreams God revealed exactly what He wanted me to do, but it was kind of a Peter moment, “Rise Peter, kill and eat” …”Not so Lord”….well, I finally listened, I auditioned, dreading every step toward that day. And I got the part…in my first Christian movie.
Yet in search of further confirmation, I prayed, Lord if this is really you, give me what you want without me having to audition….85 films later, 7 different television series…He’s still proving His call.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been totally worth it.
The struggles are and have always been people. Everyone doesn’t always understand your call, but hey, at first, neither did we.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a minister and entrepreneur, and I specialize in whatever God tells me is next. My joy is to hear and obey Him, to help others know Him. God is in love with His children, His people and His creation, and my desire is to help them know that. I pray that my legacy is that I did that.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to those starting out is to obey God, it’s only then that they will see His faithfulness.
And when it looks like nothing is working, or that it isn’t going how they thought it would, to trust God, He’s always moving in ways to bring about the most good, so don’t be weary in well doing, you will reap if you don’t faint.
