Conversations with Jordan Nichols

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Nichols.

Hi Jordan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started with a curiosity for technology and entrepreneurship. I began teaching myself web development around 2006 after being introduced to it on MySpace. From there, I eventually got into blogging, which led to the launch of Entrepreneurs of Color Magazine in 2013. Since then, I’ve published over 30 editions in both digital and print.

In 2011, I created The Poetry Movement Collective and began performing as a spoken word artist under the stage name Preech the Profit, until changing my name to Preech da GodBody in 2017. Over the years, as an artist, I’ve curated dozens of events in multiple states that created stages for other artists like myself.

Last year, I began pursuing another career passion in health and human performance, becoming a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Sports Nutrition Coach, Certified Youth Exercise Specialist and Exercise Science student. Today, my work spans media, business, technology, and fitness, but the common thread remains the same: building ecosystems that connect people with information, resources, and opportunities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve dealt with financial challenges, failed ideas, setbacks, and periods where I had to completely rethink my direction. I’ve also had to balance entrepreneurship with work, education, and personal growth. But each challenge has taught me how to adapt, become more resourceful, and keep building even when things don’t go according to plan.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work has always existed at the intersection of creativity, entrepreneurship, and community. I’m the founder of EOC Media Group and publisher of EOC Magazine, where I’ve spent more than a decade creating platforms that highlight entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals while connecting people with valuable information and resources.

I’m also a spoken word artist, fitness professional, and developer. What sets me apart is my ability to take ideas across completely different industries and turn them into something tangible. Whether I’m publishing a magazine, developing technology, creating art, or coaching someone toward better performance, I enjoy the process of building something that can positively impact people.

I’m most proud that after more than a decade, I’m still creating, learning, evolving, and finding new ways to serve people through the things I build.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
In all honestly, I can’t really say that I’ve experienced much luck. Unless it occurred in moments where I would meet people who I eventually developed a mutually beneficial relationship with. I have a way of networking and creating opportunities to speak and present to people of importance.
