Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunanda Dhar.
Hi Sunanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into the public eye began in 2018, when I competed in a state pageant. The following year, I was crowned Mrs. Congeniality India USA at the National level, a title that marked the start of a career built on connection, authenticity, and community.
Shortly after, I launched a content creation career on TikTok, quickly building a loyal following. When the platform faced a ban in the United States, I pivoted to Instagram — a move that opened the door to brand partnerships and user-generated content (UGC) work in the skincare and makeup space. By 2020, I had become an Amazon Storefront Influencer, and have since collaborated with numerous beauty and lifestyle brands.
Alongside my digital career, I run a part-time event planning business, having produced weddings, baby showers, milestone birthdays, and graduation celebrations. I have also organized public events across Atlanta, including New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s/Galentine’s celebrations and community gatherings, and have served as a marketing partner for several pageants.
A proud Atlanta resident, I live in the city with my family and continue to grow both my influencer platform and my event planning business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is a journey and every lesson shapes you to become the person you are today. At one point, my struggle was to create a healthy balance between multiple jobs and home.I was juggling between a full time creator, event planner, and was working as a Montessori teacher along with managing my home.
We often ignore the fact that how much we are invested as a mother which is an unpaid job but it is a job which is the utmost important in life because children needs nurturing and safe environment.
So, figuring out how to prioritize work and home was challenging, but eventually I did it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a MBA graduate from India, I started my career as a HR in an engineering company call ABB. Later, I studied in States to become an early childhood educator.
Within the last two years, I have worked very hard to become an Entrepreneur. I started my own venture along with my influencer career. I was a judge in one of the most prestigious Pageants in Atlanta. I also work as a marketing partner for a variety of events in Atlanta. But my specialization is my creativity, planning and execution of an idea with a perfection, or creating a unique content for the brands or creating my own niche in the competitive market. I am known as an Influencer, Creator, Teacher and an Event Planner in Atlanta.
I think every one is unique in their own way, What sets me apart or my strength is the way i make connections with people and also the zest to never give up in any situation sets me apart from many. I also like to give back to society through raising funds or charities.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Life is a journey, and every lesson shapes the person you become. There was a time when my biggest struggle wasn’t any single job — it was finding balance between several: working full-time as a content creator, an event planner, and a Montessori teacher, all while running a home.
What we often overlook is how much mothers invest in an unpaid role that happens to be the most important job there is. Children need nurturing and a safe environment to thrive — and that need doesn’t pause for a busy schedule.
Balancing work and home wasn’t easy, but I found my way — and that balance became one of my greatest lessons.
Along the way, I learned something else: growth demands risk. Success isn’t guaranteed, but the chance is always worth taking. I left my job to focus on my goals. I was terrified at the time. Looking back now, I feel happy and content — I finally have the space to focus on myself, my priorities, and my work, on my own terms.
