Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Vaughn ROSE-NUNES.
Hi D’Vaughn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story has honestly been a lot of becoming, rebuilding, and learning who I am in different seasons of my life.
I’m a mom first, and becoming a mother changed the way I looked at myself, my strength, and the kind of life I wanted to create. Fitness became a huge part of that journey for me. What started as something I did for myself eventually became something much bigger. I became a certified personal trainer, went to school for massage therapy, started coaching others, and began sharing more of my journey online.
But my story definitely hasn’t been a straight line. I’ve gone through heartbreak, unhealthy relationships, loss, starting over, and periods where I honestly felt like I had lost myself. For a long time, I was still showing up physically — going to the gym, working, being a mom — but internally I knew I wasn’t okay. I was drinking, going out, and trying to escape feelings that I eventually realized I needed to actually sit with and work through.
One of the biggest turning points in my life was choosing sobriety. I recently celebrated one year sober, and that year completely changed me. I stopped running from myself and started becoming intentional about healing, discipline, boundaries, motherhood, fitness, and the life I wanted to build.
As I became more vulnerable about that process online, something unexpected happened: people started seeing themselves in my story. My platform grew, but more importantly, a real community started forming. That led me to create The Safe Circle, a community centered around healing, growth, accountability, and having a space where people can feel seen without judgment. I also created The Safe Circle Journal as another way for people to reflect, process what they’re going through, and be intentional about becoming a healthier version of themselves.
Today, I’m still a work in progress, and I think that’s actually the most important part of my story. I’m a mother, trainer, creator, entrepreneur, and someone who is still becoming. I don’t share my life because I have everything figured out. I share it because I know what it feels like to think you’ll never get out of a certain season — and I want people to see that your life can look completely different when you finally choose yourself and give yourself the time to heal.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Some of my biggest challenges happened behind the scenes while, from the outside, it probably looked like I had everything together.
I’ve experienced unhealthy and abusive relationships, heartbreak, becoming a single mother, financial struggles, and periods where I completely lost my sense of self. There were times when I was simply surviving. I could still get up, go to the gym, take care of my son, work, and show up online, but internally I was struggling.
One of my biggest challenges was realizing that some of the ways I was coping were actually keeping me stuck. Alcohol became a way for me to avoid what I was feeling. Choosing sobriety meant I could no longer numb those emotions. I had to actually sit with the grief, anger, loneliness, disappointment, and parts of myself that I hadn’t fully healed from.
I’ve also had to learn how to leave certain versions of myself behind. That meant setting boundaries, walking away from people and environments that no longer aligned with who I was becoming, and accepting that growth can sometimes be lonely.
Motherhood has been one of my greatest motivations through all of it. There were moments when I didn’t necessarily feel strong for myself, but I knew my son was watching me. I wanted him to see that you can go through difficult things without allowing those things to define the rest of your life.
The challenges haven’t disappeared just because I’ve grown. The difference now is how I respond to them. I don’t run from hard seasons the way I used to. I allow myself to feel them, learn from them, and keep moving forward. A lot of what I’m building today was born from things I once thought were going to break me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work really sits at the intersection of fitness, wellness, content creation, and community.
I’m a certified personal trainer and licensed massage therapist, and I’ve built my platform around showing people that becoming stronger is about so much more than what you look like physically. I share fitness, motherhood, sobriety, healing, mindset, and the reality of rebuilding your life while you’re still living it.
Through my fitness brand, D’Vaughn Fit, I coach and train people with an emphasis on becoming stronger, more confident, and more disciplined. As a content creator, I’ve built a community by being vulnerable about my own journey rather than only showing the polished parts. I think that authenticity is what really sets me apart. I’m not teaching from a place of pretending I’ve always had everything figured out. A lot of the things I talk about are things I’ve had to live through and learn myself.
That same vulnerability led me to create The Safe Circle, an online community that has grown to over 1,000 members and gives people a space to talk about healing, relationships, sobriety, mental health, personal growth, and simply navigating life. I recently expanded that community by creating The Safe Circle Journal, a physical guided journal designed to help people slow down, reflect, and be honest with themselves.
What I’m most proud of isn’t necessarily a certification, follower count, or even one specific accomplishment. It’s knowing that something I originally started as a way to document my own journey has turned into something that genuinely helps other people. I receive messages from women, mothers, and even men who tell me that seeing me be open about what I’ve gone through has helped them feel less alone or motivated them to make a change in their own lives.
I think what sets me apart is that I’m not trying to sell perfection. I’m showing people what becoming looks like in real time. Fitness may have been where my platform started, but today my work is really about helping people become stronger from the inside out.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My son, Blake, deserves more credit than anyone. He is the biggest reason I continue to push myself to become a better version of me. There have been so many moments when I’ve wanted more for myself simply because I knew he was watching. Even my decision to stop drinking was impacted by a conversation with him, and being able to recently celebrate one year sober and hear him tell me that he was proud of me was a full-circle moment I’ll never forget.
I also have to give credit to the people who have supported me throughout different seasons of my life — my family, friends, clients, and the people who genuinely believed in me even when I was still figuring things out for myself.
And honestly, my online community deserves a lot of credit too. The people who follow my journey, share my content, send me messages, join the Safe Circle, purchase my journal, or simply tell me that something I shared helped them have played a huge role in where I am today. They’ve shown me that vulnerability can create connection and that sometimes sharing the parts of your story you’re most afraid to talk about can be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
I may be the face of what I’m building, but I definitely don’t feel like I got here alone. Every person who has encouraged me, trusted me, supported something I created, or reminded me of my purpose has contributed to this journey in some way.
