Daily Inspiration: Meet Elizabeth Walters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Walters.

Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got my first camera in college and got started doing photography as a hobby. I quickly began to realize that bringing out the best in people brought me deep joy. I believe in being honest and working hard and that has brought me really far.

I slowly gained clients and it has been a slow process of paying my dues in the photography world. I second shot almost 80 weddings before I took my first job as a lead wedding photographer.

That being said, I mainly do events and weddings. It’s an honor to capture what can never be captured again. I also do portrait sessions, family sessions, newborn, product photography… and more! I photography just about everything because I am blessed to love what I do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it’s definitely not been a smooth road. I’ve faced rejections and disappointments through photography gigs turning down my services but just with life in general. The first day of my senior year of high school, I tragically lost my mother. Her absence made me realize how heavy moments can be. Capturing photographs feel important. It’s a very special way to preserve memories. For example, I have had families contact me to for prints of their relatives that have passed because I took the last professional images of them.

More recently, I had a beautiful daughter who is named after my mom. Moments feel even heavier but oh so beautiful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in photography and I would say I’m known for my photography work. I’m most proud of preserving precious memories for my clients. What sets me apart is my heart for serving people and the way I tell their stories.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I believe in community over networking. It has worked well to collaborate with photographers and models, but also partner with agencies and photography companies in the wedding space.
