Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Cusirramos.

Hi Jazmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into the beauty industry started over seven years ago with a simple passion for making women feel beautiful and confident. What began with learning and perfecting my craft as a lash artist eventually grew into something much bigger than I could have imagined.

Over the years, I built my clientele, developed my own signature style specializing in wispy and textured lash sets, and eventually stepped into the role of an educator and entrepreneur. I created J. Melinda Beauty Studio LLC, where I’ve been able to not only provide beauty services, but also teach, encourage, and pour into other women who are pursuing their own dreams and trying to get closer to the Lord.

My journey hasn’t been without challenges. There have been seasons where I had to completely start over, make difficult decisions, and rebuild from places I never expected to be. One of the biggest transitions in my life was moving from Rochester to Brooklyn with my children and starting over in a new environment. I had to rebuild my business, my confidence, and my vision for my future—all while being a mother.

Through every transition, my faith in God has been the foundation that kept me moving forward. I’ve learned that sometimes God will allow you to lose what feels familiar so He can lead you into something greater.
What looked like starting over was actually God giving me the opportunity to rebuild differently—with purpose, peace, and intention.
Today, I’m continuing to grow J. Melinda Beauty Studio, I’m passionate about showing women that they can be multifaceted—that you can be a mother, an entrepreneur, a student, a creative, and a woman of faith all at the same time
When I look at where I started compared to where I am today, I’m most proud of the fact that I didn’t give up. My story is still being written, but I know now that starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing. Sometimes, it means starting again with everything you’ve learned

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. I’ve experienced seasons where I had to completely start over and rebuild—my clientele, my business, my finances, my confidence, and even my vision for my future.
One of the hardest seasons was leaving Rochester and moving to Brooklyn with my children. I had to adjust to a new environment while rebuilding my business and finding stability for my family. There were moments when I questioned whether I was making the right decisions and wondered what my next chapter would look like.
I’ve also faced the challenges that come with being a mother, entrepreneur, and woman trying to pursue multiple dreams at once. There were times when I felt like I was carrying a lot, but those experiences taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of trusting God even when I couldn’t see the full picture.
Looking back, I’m grateful for the struggles because they shaped me. They taught me that setbacks don’t have to be the end of your story. Sometimes they’re the very things that prepare you for the person you’re becoming.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is that my faith is at the center of everything I do. I don’t see my business simply as a beauty service; I see it as a platform to serve, inspire, and remind women of their worth. Outside of my business, I’m also actively involved in my church and serve on the worship team. Worship is a very important part of my relationship with God, and being able to use my gifts in both the beauty industry and in ministry is something I’m incredibly grateful for.
I’m most proud of becoming a woman who continues to pursue her purpose despite everything I’ve had to overcome. I’m building a business, raising my children, pursuing my education, and serving God—all while continuing to grow. For me, success isn’t just about what I can build; it’s about who I can impact and how I can use what God has given me to serve others.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice to anyone just starting out is to stay in the Word of God and build a genuine relationship with the Lord. I wish I understood earlier just how important it is to have God as the foundation of everything you’re building.

Entrepreneurship comes with so many highs and lows, and there will be moments when you don’t know what decision to make, what direction to take, or whether you should keep going. The Word of God becomes a tool and a source of wisdom that you can use to navigate those seasons. When you build on God, you have something solid to return to when everything around you feels uncertain.
I would also tell beginners not to compare their journey to anyone else’s. Learn your craft, be consistent, stay teachable, and give yourself permission to grow. You may have to start small, make mistakes, change directions, or even start over—but none of that means you’re failing.

Most importantly, don’t build something so big that you leave God out of it. Pray over your business, your ideas, your decisions, and your future. Let Him lead you. I’ve learned that when God is the foundation, you’re not just building a business—you’re building something with purpose.

Matthew 6:33 – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all things shall be added unto you.”

If I could go back and tell my younger self one thing, it would be: trust God, stay in His Word, and keep going. What He has for you doesn’t require you to become someone else to obtain it.
