Daily Inspiration: Meet Lani Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lani Love.

Hi Lani, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the entertainment industry really started before I was old enough to understand what the entertainment industry even was. I began doing pageants as a baby, and from there my mom started introducing me to modeling, acting, dancing, and eventually social media. I’ve basically grown up in front of the camera, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve also grown into my own personality, creativity, and brand.

Acting was one of my first introductions to the professional entertainment world. I began acting at a very young age, including playing a younger version of China McClain’s character on Black Lightning. Over the years, I continued training, auditioning, dancing, acting, making music, and exploring all of the different things I loved creatively.

Social media eventually became a huge part of my journey. What started as simply creating fun videos and sharing my personality grew into Lani Love TV and a community of millions of people who have literally watched me grow up. Today, I create everything from comedy and scripted series to challenges, music, dance, gaming, lifestyle content, and vlogs. One of the coolest things about my journey is that I’ve never had to put myself into just one box. I’m an actress, dancer, recording artist, content creator, author, model, and entrepreneur, and I genuinely enjoy being able to express myself in different ways.

None of it happened overnight. My mom has been beside me through every stage of my career. She manages me, protects me, helps bring my ideas to life, and has made a lot of sacrifices behind the scenes so that I can continue pursuing my dreams while still being a kid. Together, we’ve learned the business side of the industry, built my brand independently, worked with major companies, traveled for opportunities, created original projects, and continued investing in my craft.

There have definitely been challenges along the way. Growing up publicly means people get to see your wins, but they don’t always see the work, rejection, long days, sacrifices, or moments when something doesn’t go according to plan. Those experiences have taught me to keep going, stay grounded, continue learning, and never allow numbers or outside opinions to define who I am.

Today, Lani Love has become so much bigger than what we originally imagined. Millions of people across different platforms have supported my journey, and billions of views later, I’m still excited about creating. I think that’s what I’m most proud of. I haven’t lost the love for it.

And I still feel like I’m just getting started. As I grow, I want my career and my brand to grow with me. I want to continue acting, making music, dancing, producing my own original projects, expanding into business, and creating opportunities that go beyond social media.

Ultimately, I hope my journey shows other young people that you don’t have to wait until you’re an adult to start believing in your dreams. You can start where you are, continue learning, work hard, have the right people protecting and supporting you, and build something that is truly your own.

I started as a little girl who loved performing and being in front of the camera. Today, I’m Lani Love — and we’re still writing the story.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. I think social media can sometimes make success look easy because people usually see the finished product — the views, followers, brand deals, opportunities, trips, premieres, and exciting moments. What they don’t always see is everything that happens behind the scenes to get there.

One of the biggest challenges has been growing up in the public eye. I’ve been creating content since I was very young, so people have watched me grow, change, make mistakes, discover new interests, and become more confident in who I am. With millions of people watching comes a lot of opinions, and learning not to let negative comments or criticism affect how I see myself has been something I’ve had to grow into.

There have also been times when opportunities didn’t work out the way we hoped. In entertainment, you can audition for something you really want and not get the role, lose an opportunity you thought was perfect for you, or put so much work into a project and not receive the response you expected. Social media itself is unpredictable. One video can reach millions of people while another video you worked extremely hard on may not perform the same way. I’ve had to learn that every “no” isn’t the end of the story and every number doesn’t determine my talent or my future.

Another challenge has been balancing everything. I’m an entertainer and influencer, but I’m also still a kid. There’s school, family, friendships, dance training, acting, music, filming, traveling, brand commitments, and still needing time to just be myself. My mom has always been very intentional about making sure that the business never becomes more important than my well-being or my childhood.

As my platform has grown, we’ve also had to learn the business side of the industry. Not everyone has the best intentions, and every opportunity isn’t necessarily the right opportunity. My mom and I have learned the importance of protecting my brand, knowing when to say no, understanding my worth, and making decisions based on what is best for me long-term instead of just what looks good in the moment.

Through all of those challenges, though, I’ve learned resilience. I’ve learned that rejection can redirect you, mistakes can teach you, and sometimes a closed door pushes you to create your own door. Some of the things we couldn’t get opportunities to be a part of inspired us to create our own projects instead.

So no, the road hasn’t always been smooth, but I wouldn’t change the journey. The difficult moments have helped shape me just as much as the successful ones. I’m still learning, still growing, and most importantly, I still genuinely love what I do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would describe what I do as entertainment in every form. I’m a content creator, actress, dancer, recording artist, model, author, and young entrepreneur. I’ve never wanted to limit myself to just one area because I genuinely love creating and performing in different ways.

A huge part of what I’m known for is Lani Love TV, where we create family-friendly entertainment that includes original scripted series, comedy skits, challenges, vlogs, music, dance, gaming, and lifestyle content. Storytelling has become one of the biggest parts of my brand. I love creating characters and storylines that keep my audience coming back to see what happens next, while also allowing them to grow with me as I enter different stages of my life.

Outside of social media, I’m professionally trained in acting and dance, and I continue to work on my music as a recording artist. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in television and film, collaborate with brands, perform, travel, and experience so many different sides of the entertainment industry. I think having experience both in traditional entertainment and digital media has helped me become a well-rounded performer and creator.

What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. There are millions of people who have watched me grow up, and my content has accumulated billions of views. Those numbers are amazing, but what means even more to me is meeting someone who tells me they’ve been watching since they were little, that one of my videos made them laugh when they were having a bad day, or that watching me inspired them to start creating or pursuing something they love.

I’m also extremely proud that so much of what we’ve built has been independent. My mom and I have taken ideas that sometimes started as simple conversations and turned them into actual productions, series, music, partnerships, and business opportunities. I’ve been able to learn that I don’t always have to wait for someone else to give me an opportunity — sometimes we can create the opportunity ourselves.

I think what sets me apart is that there really isn’t just one version of Lani Love. Someone may discover me through acting, someone else through dance or music, and another person may know me from YouTube, a funny skit, a series, gaming, or a vlog. But no matter what I’m doing, my personality is still at the center of it.

I also think authenticity has played a huge role in my longevity. My audience has watched me grow naturally instead of trying to stay the same person I was when they first discovered me. As I grow, my content grows with me. I’m not afraid to try something new, switch things up, or challenge myself creatively.

At the end of the day, I don’t just want to be known as someone who became popular on social media. I want to build a career and a legacy in entertainment. I want people to look back and see that Lani Love was a brand that continued evolving — from a little girl making videos to a young entertainer creating her own stories, music, productions, businesses, and eventually opportunities for other young creatives.

I’m proud of how far we’ve come, but I’m even more excited about how much more there is to build.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Because I’ve grown up in the digital and entertainment world, a lot of the resources that inspire me are actually the platforms I use every day. YouTube is a big one for me. I’m constantly watching other creators, interviews, performances, music videos, behind-the-scenes content, acting clips, dance videos, and tutorials. I think you can learn so much just by paying attention to how other people create and then finding a way to make it your own.

TikTok and Instagram are also great for discovering trends, music, fashion, choreography, creative ideas, and what people my age are currently interested in. At the same time, my mom always reminds me that social media should be a tool and not something that determines how I feel about myself. I try to use it for inspiration, entertainment, and creativity without getting caught up in comparing my journey to someone else’s.

I also learn a lot simply by doing. Acting classes, dance training, being on set, recording music, working with different creatives, traveling, meeting new people, and even having conversations with my family have all been resources in their own way. Sometimes your best lessons don’t come from a book or an app — they come from experience.

Something I’m especially excited about is that I now have the opportunity to help create a resource and platform for other young people through my own preteen and teen podcast, This, That, or Whatever.

The show features a panel of kids and teens between the ages of 10 and 18 who come together to discuss different topics, share opinions, debate, laugh, and interview guests — all from a young person’s point of view. We can talk about everything from friendships, school, social media, entertainment and trends to growing up, goals, family, confidence, and issues that kids and teenagers actually care about.

What makes the podcast special to me is that adults are usually the ones interviewing kids or explaining what they think kids are feeling. With This, That, or Whatever, we get to speak for ourselves. Different members of the panel may have completely different opinions about the same topic, and that’s okay. We want young people to understand that their thoughts and perspectives matter, while also learning how to listen to and respect someone who may see things differently.

I also love interviewing people because I’m naturally curious. I’ve spent so much of my life being the person answering questions, so it’s fun being on the other side and getting to ask them.

Ultimately, I think one of the best resources anyone can have is access to different perspectives. Whether I’m watching another creator, learning from someone more experienced in the entertainment industry, talking with my mom, listening to my peers, or sitting around the podcast table, I’m always learning something.

And hopefully This, That, or Whatever can become one of those places where other kids and teens can learn, laugh, feel represented, and realize that their voices deserve to be part of the conversation too.
