Daily Inspiration: Meet Tyla “Tye”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyla “Tye”.

Tyla “Tye”, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My true creative journey started young, around the age of 10-11. It began with a friend of mine showing me how to make YouTube videos, editing & recording on phone, which lead to me getting into Skits / Gaming videos / a little bit of everything. Later my interests expanded, entering me into the fields of Videography for Music content as well as Photography, and a little bit of VFX work too. I was still young at the time, beginning of Highschool, so I was still bouncing around a lot with what I thought I wanted to do. It lead to me trying out Music myself, merchandising, Lyric Visualizers, Graphic design, 3d rendering, literally a little bit of everything. After some years of bouncing around creatively, I contacted my friend that started it all by showing me YouTube at the beginning, Zack Dawe, and we came up with a plan to dive deeper into Graphic Design. So within a week or so, we locked in and created some new social media pages and titled ourselves “Open Minded” to express our creative endeavors being open minded individuals. We hustled and learned a lot about designing, social media, and much more within about 5-6 months, but sadly I chose to step away because it didn’t feel like my correct path still… I then found my interests expanding much more, like before, expanding to avenues I never would have thought I’d really enjoy. This was the world of Anime, along side Voice Acting. I knew I didn’t do music anymore, but I still yearned to use my voice, growing up in a rough environment around drugs, abuse, unstable family, I felt I never had a true voice of my own, so this felt like an opportunity to still utilize and grow my voice. So I began. I began getting into Anime a bit, finding clips, voice over them, being goofy, having fun, and to my surprise.. getting views! I’ve never experienced that before so seeing my content expand so much, thousands, to 10 thousands, to 100 thousands, to millions…. It blew my mind. I followed this High for a while, rinse repeat, rinse repeat, honestly having fun. Until this world was flipped, unfortunately late December 2025, that friend that helped begin my creative journey, Zack, which I had been friends with for roughly 19 years and ongoing, passed away. I was lost for words, We’ve been doing content so long, no matter the failure, no matter the outcome, we kept on creating, but I wasn’t able to show him that these views are truly possible, that we could make things workout. Because of that, I had to sit with my thoughts and dive deep into why I was doing this, and Zack had left me a note, one he wrote years ago I found out, expressing that if I was reading that, he died trying and he hopes I will carry his dreams to the top with me. This made my trajectory change, my “fun” was no longer there with this Anime content, it didn’t feel like “me”, it felt like a high that was finally coming down, and a version of me that was not as serious as I wanted to express. So now, and for good, I’m expressing myself through storytelling, cinematography, and world building, praying one day to shine light upon my work of Directing though filmmaking, allowing me to truly express my mind and let my friend rest in peace knowing he will not be forgotten and even though he can not see it here on the ground, his name will. I am Tyla, known online as “Tye” Cabana, and I’m here to bring vision to life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh man.. definitely not a smooth road. It’s been very bumpy, a lot of my own doing, but as a younger child, much was out of my control. At a younger age, I had lived with a single mother that found a life in drugs, alcohol, abuse, and much mental help needed. There was many obstacles with that, dealing with things children shouldn’t have to face, or treating your parent like your child, having to watch over things or check & search your own home to secure your safety. Outside of that, growing older when I started expanding my interests, I just kept on giving up, not truly being intentional, and created obstacles by jumping ship way too early on many things. But in the long run, every hardship I’ve gone through only lead me to here, and I’m truly happy with where I am now creatively, but also personally as well. It’s been a long road, many ups and downs, but I can finally say I’ve got my foot down.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve gotten more known for my Voice Dubbing / Anime Voice overs within the recent past months, but my true goal and fulfilling path is Filmmaking & storytelling. I creative visual pieces, wether it be using music to tell a story, narration, or actors, but I use the camera as an eye into a new world crafted to tell its own story. Currently using alot of my life “chapters” I like to call them, as fuel to tell specific stories or feelings I’ve got. Later I aim to start bringing to life more serious roles such as Short films, and even later Movies will be a blessing. I’m in love with Thriller, horror, and psychological pieces (I also love comedy greatly too), while integrating music into the background. Huge inspirations currently are Jordan Peele, Ryan Coogler, for their directing but also their personal stories. Some films that I am inspired by are The Piano Lesson, Sinners, Get out, Interstellar, Tick Tick boom.

How do you think about luck?
Honestly I don’t look into Luck too deep, I do feel very blessed that things have worked in the ways they have, but I also am the type to believe things play out the way they are written. So even if bad, or good, I see it as it’s a chapter that’s supposed to happen, and I’ll be ight.
