Exploring Life & Business with Ashley Corey of Wellspring Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Corey.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Michigan and went to Western Michigan University, where I finished a degree in biomedical sciences in 2013. From there it was Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, then a family medicine residency at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. I’m board certified in family medicine, and I still practice. I used say patients in Cartersville, GA from 2021-2025 and I now practice out of the Northside Hospital System’s Primary Care office in Smyrna, GA. That was also the year I got married. My husband and I have two young daughters.

In 2022, I bought Wellspring Skincare in Roswell. I saw it as a great opportunity to bring medical expertise to a unique field of practice, aesthetics and non-dermatological skin care. My primary care medicine role specializes in women’s health, and part of that is feeling confident in your own skin. And aesthetics medicine offer many fantastic preventative and corrective treatments to help both women and men look and feel their best.

I run Wellspring the way I practice medicine. Every treatment we offer is backed by evidence and goes through a rigorous review before it ever reaches a patient. In practice that means I test a lot of products and procedures every year, and I decline many of them. If the science isn’t there, it doesn’t make the menu.

That standard has shaped what the menu looks like. We’ve added more procedures on top of treatments, like non-surgical facelifts, and we’ve been deliberate about what stays off. Today Wellspring is unique in this regard, as most med spas simply have off site medical over site in the form of a medical director.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning/operating a business is a very different undertaking than my medical training prepared me for. And taking over an established practice had both its pros and cons. I am also a very stubborn DIY’er, so there were many late nights building, and rebuilding, our website, trying to learn about accounting, all the regulatory requirements that come with owning a business like ours, learning about what makes Google rank you, all while providing top tier services and treatments and creating an enjoyable/beneficial experience for our customers.

All this is taken care of at my Primary Care job, however, its over whelming. Luckily we were able to manage and slowly but surely things have come to a nice equilibrium. Patience has been the biggest lesson, one always over-estimates what they can do in a day, but underestimates what consistency and dedication can do in a year.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Wellspring Skincare ?
Wellspring Skincare is a med spa in Roswell. We do the things people come to a med spa for: Botox for wrinkle treatment and prevention, Dermal and lip filler for increased volume. We also offer many skin treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, laser resurfacing and IPL, custom facials. And I oversee a medical weight loss program.

As a physician, elective services like these that are more geared towards aesthetics than being strictly necessary, can be difficult to reconcile. And at first, some of it was for me. However, as with many things in life, once you try something, the mystery, intimidation, stigma, all evaporates. Take Botox for example, it has had a stigma attached to it for decades, and while that stigma is slowly going away, it represents a barrier for many people who’s life would be improved every time they look in the mirror. And that is meaningful, and something I’m proud of for our practice. We promote confidence in ones skin over vanity and insecurity. Our treatments are effective, and we always dose to a patients goals. Often less is more, and we are happy to provide less when it leads happier, more confident patients.

The other thing I’d want people to know is who we’re for. A lot of med spa marketing is intimidating: impossibly gorgeous people setting outrageous standards. We’re not that, our entire website is free of stock photos or models from vendor marketing. We are for real people, who simply want to look and feel their best.

We are also extremely proud of our team. Our injectors and aestheticians have been doing this for decades, and they have a loyal patient base because they routinely produce excellent results for our clients.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people are surprised when they learn I still see patients as a primary care doctor. I still love helping people live healthier lives in that scope, in particular women’s health.
