Today we’d like to introduce you to Reque Blackmon.

Hi Reque, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the music industry when I was 17 years old, my dad was in the Commodores and my mom sung in the choir. I guess you can say I was raised in music all my life. Once I graduated from high school ( HUffman High School) after going to Freak Nik ’95 I was hooked into the ATL culture and I quickly made the decision to move to Atlanta and make it my new home. It wasn’t easy at all when I first moved there the music scene was a who you know type of vibe, and I didn’t know anybody. But I didn’t let that stop me I moved through the city like a villain taking any and every chance to get on and get in where I knew I was suppose to be IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. I was able to get on with Radio One Atlanta Hot 97.5 now Hot 107.9 and became a promotion coordinator, and that’s when my music journey really began because it gave me direct access to all of the biggest names in the music world, and I took full advantage of it. Later I started doing promotions for Real Street Promotions ( Promotions Director)of one the biggest promotions company in the A owned by Tyreal Lewis. After this I started doing driving jobs for artist on tour and eventually got involved in road management for some of the biggest artist in the music industry today. Now I own two radio stations one LPFM Tha Blaze 100.9 WPYT FM Newnan Ga and Power 104.9 WSTV Jonesboro and we are becoming one of the smallest growing leaders in ATL radio today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it wasn’t like I said it was a who you know type of town and I didn’t know anyone until I was able to get on at Radio One.

Power Alliance Group is the parent company in which Tha Blaze 100.9 WPYT FM Newnan GA and Power 104.9 WSTV are under.
