We recently had the chance to connect with Farrah Poole-Foley and have shared our conversation below.
Farrah , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal weekday for me usually starts with getting up early to make lunch for my daughter and taking her to school. Once I’m back home, I spend time responding to inquiries for Ashven Estate, updating client contracts, and preparing any paperwork that needs attention. Throughout the day, I also handle scheduled tours and meet with potential clients to show them the venue.
On weekends—when most of our events take place—I head to the venue early to set up ceremony seating, tables, and chairs. I handle decorating, check in with my clients for the day, and make sure everything is ready for the scheduled events.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Farrah Poole-Foley. I was born and raised in Atlanta, and I’m the proud owner of Ashven Estate, a special events venue. At 42 years old, I’m a mother of five beautiful children, a grandmother of two (with one more on the way), and a wife to my amazing husband, Daniel—my true partner in everything I do.
My journey hasn’t always been easy. I became a single mom at 16, but I worked hard, went back to school, and earned my business degree by the age of 28. In 2013, I had the opportunity to start Ashven Estate, and I’ve now been in the wedding industry for 15 years. I’m deeply passionate about my work, and I truly love being part of some of the most meaningful moments in people’s lives.
During the week, my days start with my family—making lunch for my daughter and taking her to school—then shift to running the business. I handle inquiries, update contracts, and give tours to new clients. On weekends, when most events take place, you’ll find me at the venue early, setting up ceremony seating, decorating, and touching base with clients to ensure every detail is just right.
One of my children (Christian Mitchell) an amazing artist was featured in one of your articles last year. I’m super proud of him!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I truly believe God saw me clearly long before I could see myself. The plans I would have settled for are nothing compared to the life I have today. The obstacles and mountains I’ve faced once felt impossible, but through faith, hard work, and perseverance, I’ve overcome them—and for that, I’m forever grateful
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It’s a question I never really thought about until now. But I’d have to say that without suffering, I wouldn’t truly understand perseverance—or the strength it takes to keep going when things feel impossible. Suffering taught me to appreciate happiness on a deeper level, and to embrace the thankfulness that comes with overcoming. It gave me a sense of pride and accomplishment that success alone could never
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I don’t think it could be anyone else—lol! I’m very hands-on, and I personally meet with all of my clients. I work one-on-one with them and do my best to be authentic in every interaction. Now, if you ask my kids, they might have a different answer—but that’s mom life for you!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who beat the odds and did things many only dream of. Someone once told me I was never satisfied—at the time, I took it as an insult. But today, I see it differently. I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all. It means I’m always striving for the next level, always pushing myself to reach the very best of what I’m capable of.
