Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah & Oscar.
Hi Leah & Oscar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
PeachLine Mobile Detailing started with a simple goal: to build a local business that people could genuinely trust. We’re husband and wife, and until recently, we both worked as senior software engineers. Leah also has a degree in marketing, while Oscar grew up helping his parents with their landscaping & cleaning business. Neither of us came from the traditional detailing industry, but we were able to bring those different experiences together to build PeachLine.
What started as a small idea quickly grew into something we saw much more potential in. We realized we could do more than just detail cars, we could build a professional, reliable company in an industry where the customer experience isn’t always consistent. Our backgrounds taught us how to learn quickly, solve problems and continuously improve, while Leah’s marketing experience helped us build the brand and Oscar’s hands-on background made the physical side of the work more familiar.
We’ve invested heavily back into the business, outfitting our vans as fully equipped mobile detailing shops with their own water, power, professional equipment and supplies. We’ve also hired and trained employees, developed quality standards, expanded our services, and built systems that allow us to grow without sacrificing the quality of our work.
We’re also intentional about how we treat our employees. We hire W-2 employees, have strict hiring standards, conduct background checks, and offer performance-based bonuses to reward great work. We believe that when our employees are taken care of and take pride in their work, it shows in the quality of our work and the experience our customers receive.
One of the most rewarding parts has been watching our reputation grow alongside the company. In just a year, we’ve earned 250 five star customer reviews. Every review represents someone in our community who trusted a relatively young local business with their vehicle.
Today, PeachLine serves North Metro Atlanta, and we’re entering another exciting stage. We’re working toward establishing a commercial facility with on-site detailing, expanding our team and fleet, and creating the foundation for continued growth.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that growing a service business means solving problems constantly. As the company has grown, the challenges have changed with it. Early on, the challenge was simply getting enough people to know we existed and convincing customers to trust a new company. Then it became figuring out pricing, scheduling, equipment, marketing, and how to consistently deliver the same quality from one job to the next.
As we began hiring, we had to learn an entirely new side of entrepreneurship: training employees, creating standards, managing schedules, handling payroll, and learning how to lead a team. We quickly discovered that being good at detailing and building a detailing company are two very different things.
There have also been plenty of expensive lessons. Vans break. Equipment fails. Batteries and pressure washers stop working. Schedules fall apart. Advertising campaigns don’t always perform the way you expect. Sometimes you make an investment believing it will solve one problem and discover three new ones.
More recently, we’ve been learning what it takes to move from a small mobile business toward a larger operation. That has meant learning about things we knew very little about, from commercial leases and licensing requirements to vehicle maintenance. One day we might be thinking about marketing strategy or software, and the next we’re solving a completely different operational problem.
There have absolutely been moments where the business felt overwhelming. But every difficult period has forced us to build better systems and become better operators. Looking back, many of the problems that seemed enormous six months ago are now things we know how to handle. That constant process of solving, learning and improving has probably shaped PeachLine more than anything else.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about PeachLine Mobile Detailing?
PeachLine Mobile Detailing is a professional mobile auto detailing company serving North Metro Atlanta. We bring the entire detailing operation directly to our customers’ homes, offices and apartments.
Our vans are essentially mobile detailing shops. They carry their own water, power and professional equipment, which allows our technicians to perform extensive interior and exterior details without requiring the customer to provide those things.
We specialize in deep interior and exterior detailing, including carpet and upholstery shampooing, hot-water extraction, stain treatment, paint decontamination and protection, along with additional services such as paint enhancement, waxes, protective coatings, glass protection, odor treatment and other vehicle restoration services.
But the thing we want PeachLine to be known for goes beyond detailing.
We want to professionalize the entire experience of hiring a mobile service company.
That means showing up when we say we will, communicating with customers, having professional employees and branded vehicles, carrying proper insurance, investing in quality equipment and products, standing behind our work, and creating systems that make the experience consistent.
We’re also very intentional about setting realistic expectations. Detailing can make incredible improvements to a vehicle, but not every stain, scratch, odor or defect can be safely removed. We would rather be transparent with a customer than promise something simply to make a sale.
Brand-wise, what we’re most proud of is the trust PeachLine has earned locally. We’ve accumulated 250 customer reviews in a little over a year, and we’ve grown largely because customers continue recommending us and coming back.
We’re proud that PeachLine feels increasingly like a real local brand rather than simply a couple of people cleaning cars.
We’re now building the next stage of the company: a commercial home base with onsite detailing, additional vans, more employees and eventually administrative and management positions as the operation grows.
Even as we scale, we want to preserve the thing that made the company successful in the first place: treating every vehicle and every customer like our reputation depends on that particular job — because it does.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has definitely played a role, both good and bad, but entrepreneurship has changed the way we think about it.
We’ve had good luck in meeting great customers, finding talented people and entering the market at a time when there is real demand for convenient, high-quality services that come directly to people.
We’ve also had plenty of bad luck. Vehicles and equipment have failed at terrible times. We’ve spent money on things that didn’t work out. We’ve had slow weeks, staffing challenges and unexpected problems that immediately became expensive.
But one thing we’ve learned is that you can improve your odds.
The more customers you take care of, the more opportunities you have for referrals. The more you invest in your reputation, the easier it becomes for the next customer to trust you. The more systems you build, the less damaging an unexpected problem becomes.
Some of our growth has undoubtedly involved being in the right place at the right time. But there have also been countless days where nobody sees the work happening behind the scenes, solving problems after the workday ends, maintaining equipment, communicating with customers, improving our marketing, training employees and figuring out how to make tomorrow run a little better than today.
So we’re grateful for the good luck we’ve had, but we’ve tried to build PeachLine in a way that doesn’t depend on luck to succeed.
