Hidden Gems: Meet Miles Mendelson of Guiltless Glass Recycling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miles Mendelson.

Hi Miles, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My wife and I are avid recyclers. Years ago, we became very frustrated when DeKalb County stopped recycling glass. We would take our glass up to Dekalb facilities for recycling, but it was messy and a hassle. We decided that we wanted to help the community easily recycle household glass because glass is essentially 99.9% recyclable.

We started the business a little less than two years ago. We love the impact that we are making on the community and we try to make recycling for our customers as easy and convenient as possible. We have a “customer first”mindset and try to ensure that our customers are always happy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has sometimes been bumpy, but overall it has been great. We love the enthusiasm of our customers!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Guiltless Glass Recycling ?
Recycling glass is our passion! We pick up household glass (wine, beer, and water bottles, candles, jars, etc.) from each customer home once a month. Our customers do not even have to rinse their glass! We provide our customers a bin and notify our customers to remind them that we’re coming. Our glass is recycled at a recycling facility in the College Park area where we have ensured the glass is being properly recycled. We are unique because there are not many glass recycling companies in Atlanta and we strive to provide superior customer service to each of our customers.

What does success mean to you?
We want to grow our business and help the metro Atlanta area easily recycle glass. We would define success as providing glass recycling to hundreds of Atlanta area residents.
