Hi Barbara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey has never been about following a straight path, it has been about answering a calling. Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping organizations, leaders, and communities move from vision to execution. Whether working in nonprofit leadership, program strategy, project management, or executive coaching, I’ve always been driven by one question: How can we create systems that help people thrive?

I began my career serving children, youth, and families, where I quickly realized that lasting impact requires more than good intentions, it requires strong leadership, clear strategy, and sustainable systems. That realization led me to pursue advanced education and certifications while taking on increasingly complex leadership roles across nonprofit, government, and corporate sectors.

Today, I serve as a senior leader in portfolio management while also leading Vizyon Consulting, where I partner with executives, emerging leaders, and organizations to strengthen leadership capacity, improve organizational effectiveness, and successfully navigate change. My work spans executive coaching, strategic planning, leadership development, DISC behavioral assessments, and project and portfolio management.

Along the way, I’ve learned that success isn’t measured simply by titles or accomplishments. It’s measured by the leaders you’ve developed, the organizations you’ve strengthened, and the lives you’ve helped transform. Every opportunity from coaching executives and facilitating leadership retreats to supporting youth programs and grant-funded initiatives has reinforced my belief that great leadership creates ripple effects that extend far beyond the workplace.

Looking back, every challenge, setback, and unexpected opportunity has prepared me for where I am today. My story continues to evolve, but my mission remains the same: helping individuals and organizations turn vision into reality through intentional leadership, strategic execution, and a commitment to lasting impact.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change the journey because every challenge has shaped the leader I am today.

One of my biggest challenges has been navigating spaces where I was often asked to solve complex organizational problems without always having the authority or resources to implement the changes needed. Leading through ambiguity, organizational change, competing priorities, and resistance has taught me resilience, diplomacy, and the importance of influencing without relying solely on positional authority.

Like many entrepreneurs, building my consulting business while maintaining a demanding executive career has also required sacrifice. There were seasons of long hours, self-doubt, and balancing family, faith, education, and professional responsibilities. I learned that success isn’t about doing everything alone, it’s about building relationships, asking for support, and trusting the process.

I’ve also experienced setbacks that didn’t make sense at the time. Opportunities I thought were meant for me didn’t materialize, projects changed direction, and doors closed unexpectedly. Looking back, many of those disappointments redirected me toward opportunities that were far more aligned with my purpose.

Through it all, my faith has remained my anchor. It has reminded me that leadership is ultimately about service, integrity, and perseverance. Every obstacle has strengthened my ability to help other leaders navigate their own challenges with confidence, strategy, and hope. Today, I see those difficult moments not as barriers, but as some of my greatest teachers.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Vizyon Consulting is a leadership development and organizational strategy firm built around one central belief: vision becomes meaningful when it is supported by the right leadership, strategy, and systems.

How do you define success?
I define success as living in alignment with my purpose and using what God has given me to create a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

For me, success is not limited to a title, income level, degree, or professional accomplishment. Those things can be important, but they are not the full measure of a meaningful life. Success is being able to look at the people, organizations, and communities I have served and know that my presence helped make something better.

Success also means helping other people recognize their own potential. When a leader becomes more confident, a team begins working together more effectively, an organization develops stronger systems, or a young person starts believing that greater possibilities exist for their future, I consider that success.

Personally, success means being present for my family, remaining grounded in my faith, continuing to grow, and having the courage to pursue the work I believe I was called to do. It means building a life that reflects my values rather than simply meeting other people’s expectations.

I have also learned that success is not a final destination. It is the ongoing process of becoming-learning from challenges, adjusting when necessary, honoring the season you are in, and continuing to move forward with intention.

Ultimately, I define success by impact, alignment, and legacy. I want the work I do to create positive ripple effects that continue beyond me. If I can help people move closer to their purpose, strengthen the organizations that serve our communities, and leave every space better than I found it, then I consider that a successful life.
