Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Setlock.
Kat, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Kat Setlock—47 years young and a NASM Certified Sports Nutrition Coach. After more than 20 years in corporate America, I walked away in 2025 because I couldn’t ignore what it was doing to my well-being.
A big turning point started in 2019 when I returned to dance after being away for over 20 years. Then the pandemic hit, and like a lot of people, I started paying closer attention to what “health” really means. For me, it became bigger than workouts or eating “right”—it was about overall well-being, daily habits, stress, and how you feel in your body and your life.
When I tried to step back into corporate life, the dread was immediate. So I quit without a backup plan and spent most of 2025 decompressing and getting clear on what I wanted to build next. That’s when I realized wellness wasn’t just personal—it was my purpose.
I got certified, but I also knew I didn’t want to coach nutrition in a vacuum. I wanted to help people create a lifestyle that supports real, sustainable thriving. That’s how Go Thrive Official was born. I’ve been building and testing the brand since early 2026, with a full platform rollout planned for the end of 2026.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been a meaningful one. The truth is, the further I go, the more the path evolves—what started as one idea has grown into something bigger as I’ve learned, tested, and listened to what people actually need.
One of the biggest struggles has been the mental side of starting over: leaving the security and structure of corporate life, stepping into a completely new career path, and figuring things out in real time without a “perfect” roadmap. There have been moments of doubt, overwhelm, and that uncomfortable feeling of being new again.
But I’m genuinely grateful for the struggle because it’s stretched me and made me more intentional. In 2026, I promised myself I was going to embrace “doing hard things,” and that mindset has helped me keep showing up—especially on the days when it would be easier to play it safe.
As you know, we’re big fans of Go Thrive Official . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Go Thrive is a digital health and wellness coaching platform built for people who are tired of the quick-fix cycle and ready for sustainable change. I specialize in helping adults (especially ages 30–50) transform their relationship with food, movement, and daily habits through an education-first, data-driven approach—so they’re not just “following a plan,” they’re learning how to thrive long-term.
What sets Go Thrive apart is our framework, The Go Thrive Method, which integrates Nutrition, Movement, and Habits simultaneously. Most programs focus on one piece at a time—macros without lifestyle, workouts without fueling, or motivation without a real system. I coach the whole picture, using real-time tracking and consistent support to make adjustments based on what your body and your life are actually doing. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s progress you can sustain.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Go Thrive is rooted in a clear philosophy: thriving is an inside job. This brand isn’t built on aesthetics, extremes, or shame-based marketing. It’s built on compassion, clarity, and the belief that you deserve to feel strong, energized, and confident in your own routines. Whether someone works with me through 1:1 nutrition coaching or eventually through digital resources, the experience is designed to be supportive, practical, and empowering—because lasting transformation comes from understanding your “why,” not chasing someone else’s rules.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was the kid who was always moving. I danced constantly—at home, in the studio, anywhere there was music. I’d be in my brother’s room dancing to records (yes, records), and I genuinely felt most like myself when I was performing.
Because I grew up around a lot of boys, I was also into sports, skateboarding, and riding bikes. But I had a softer, imaginative side too—I could just as easily be inside playing out an entire world with my dollhouses. Looking back, I think that blend of energy + creativity has always been my personality.
