Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Casey Armstrong of Covington

Casey Armstrong shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Casey , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
✨ *“What I’m most proud of building in The Polished Wick Candle Company isn’t just the candles themselves, it’s the unseen foundation. It’s the late nights perfecting blends until the fragrance told the right story, the discipline of staying consistent when no one was watching, and the values of love, excellence, and intention poured into every jar.

What nobody sees is the patience, the trial and error, the quiet prayers, and the commitment to create not just a product, but an experience. I’m proud of the resilience behind the brand, the way it has grown from vision to reality, and the fact that every candle carries a piece of that unseen work.”*

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
✨ *“Hello, my name is Casey Armstrong, and I’m the founder of The Polished Wick Candle Co.. What started as a personal passion for creating intentional spaces of peace and self-care has grown into a brand that blends luxury with meaning.

At The Polished Wick, we believe a candle is more than fragrance, it’s an experience. Every scent is carefully crafted to evoke memory, inspire stillness, and add a touch of elegance to everyday life. What makes us unique is the way we pour not only soy wax and fragrance into each vessel, but also love, purpose, and a reminder that taking time for yourself is sacred.

In addition to building this brand, I am also the author of Lit From Within: A Self-Care Journey Through Scent and Stillness, a book that reflects my own journey of learning to slow down, embrace balance, and connect deeper with myself. Together, both the book and the candle line represent my mission , to help others find light, stillness, and beauty in the midst of everyday life.

From our seasonal collections like the Anchored Fall Collection and the upcoming Timeless Holiday Collection, to sharing my story through writing, my goal is to inspire others to create sacred moments of peace and joy in their own lives.”* ✨

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
✨ “The person who taught me the most about work has always been my parents. Their example of consistency, resilience, and commitment left an impression on me from an early age. They showed me that work isn’t just about getting the job done, but about doing it with integrity, love, and purpose. That influence shaped the way I approach both my business and my life, to give my best, stay steady through challenges, and always keep people at the heart of what I do.”

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
✨ “If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: never give up. Even when the road feels heavy or uncertain, every step forward matters. The challenges you face are shaping your strength, and the dreams in your heart are worth holding onto. Keep going ,your persistence will one day become your power.”

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
✨ “I think my closest friends would say that what really matters to me is doing everything with intention and excellence. I don’t believe in just going through the motions, whether it’s my business, my family, or the way I show up in everyday life, I want every action to carry purpose. For me, excellence isn’t about perfection; it’s about giving my best and making sure what I do has meaning and impact.”

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
✨ “The story I hope people tell about me when I’m gone is that I always did right by others, made people a priority, deeply loved my family, and above all, loved God. That I lived with love, respect, and faith, and that I created spaces ,whether through my work, my words, or my candles ,where others felt valued and cared for. More than anything, I hope my legacy is one of faith, love, and putting God, family, and people first.”
