We’re looking forward to introducing you to Cornelius Turner. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Cornelius , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
There have been many fundamental moments that have made me proud recently. One moment was when I stepped out of my comfort zone and obtained my real estate license. For years, I ran away from getting my license because I thought I wasn’t smart enough. One day my sister, Virginia Edwards, a thriving realtor in Mobile, Alabama with EXIT Realty Promise and my now EXIT Realty sponsor, stopped me and said “Neal you have everything it takes to be successful in this industry. You have the personality, know how to market yourself, have a social media presence, influential, and passionate!” Her words truly encourage .
For Christmas 2024, my sister stepped out in faith and gave me a different kind of Christmas Gift. I opened my gift to find a CHECK to pay for my real estate school. It truly touched my heart that she believed in me that much. So, I decided to move out of my own way and trust God!
Going into real estate school, my mindset was to excel in the program, learn as much as possible, and score an A+ on the national and state exams. To achieve this goal, I had to make adjustments in my life and shift my focus to my schooling. There were days that I was literally reading for 8-10 hours nonstop in a trance. I truly became fascinated with the material and I would even laugh at the book as if I was reading a comedy. I never thought I was much of a reader but I read all 6 books under the anointing of God, aced school, and received my real estate license.
My biggest lesson from this experience is to trust God! In life things will make you uncomfortable but it doesn’t mean it’s not for you. Sometimes you have to start by taking a leap of faith and know God will have your back! This experience was truly a spiritual journey for me. It was tough, required much focus, dedication, and it was necessary! Now, i’m thriving as a successful realtor in San Antonio, Texas with EXIT Realty Advisors!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cornelius Turner and I’m a realtor with EXIT Realty Advisors. I’m also known as “Thee Dancing Realtor” because I combine my passion for dance fitness with my real estate platform. My brand is all about building confidence in individuals to be homeowners. I encounter a lot of individuals that dream about being homeowners but they feel it’s out of their reach. Through my partnership, I utilize my skillset, knowledge, and resources to make homeownership a realty for my clients. For my seller clients I’m able to leverage my marketing strategies and social media influence to efficiently draw in buyers for their properties. Real estate is truly an industry that I’m passionate about so working with me is an energized experience for each family that I’m blessed to work with.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Pastor Steven Cox of Church of Life, Inc., had a major role in shaping how I see myself. Prior to joining his church, I suffered from low self esteem and felt like I did not have a voice. I was very shy, timid, and soft spoken. Pastor Cox poured into me by teaching me how to dress for sucess and how to be a leader. He recognized that I had many gifts from God and he created a safe place for me to use them. He allowed me to sing in the choir, play piano, produce various plays, lead functions, serve in the community and on the Deacon board, and so much more. I will always remember the many valuable conversations and the time he poured into me.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to trust God! When I’m going through something the scripture Psalms 30:5 comes to my mind. It says “For His anger is but for a moment, but His favor is for a lifetime or in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalms 30:5) So. we will suffer in life and we may want to give up. We may have to even cry sometimes but we have to remember to trust God in the midst of it all because God will give you joy in the morning! Remember this, it can’t stay dark always, the sun eventually has to rise!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the real version of me. I am a very charismatic, positive, and loving individual all around. I believe individuals are able to connect with me easily because I am unapologetically my authentic self and I encourage others around me to do the same.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired today, my customers would miss my ability to build confidence in others, my smile, big personality, and positive energy.
