Gabriel Olok shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Gabriel, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? When was the last time you felt true joy?
Im usually a happy person but this year has been abit crazy so id say early on in the year like 12th of Jan specifically, it was a friends wedding we was there with my girlfriend, more friends and good people around it was a joyous moment where we’d came together to celebrate friends start a new part of their journey and all that, and at the end of the day got back and even had an awkward but funny moment with my dad and my lady. My dad past on the next week.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Wagwan, I go by GrG aka Grandmaster G
Iam an artist/musician, to dive deeper Iam a hip hop artist but don’t really stay confined to hip hop so basically rap, soul rnb and everything real. Music is the one outlet that has given my life purpose, it’s given me something to strive for and something I can apply myself to wholeheartedly, in a nutshell music is the main character in my story, I’d like to say at the moment but that’s not really how it’s turning out to be, but that’s a story for another day. On a brighter note I’ve started working on my album and envisioning what I want and need to get out of it,
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with music as a creative not a listener , I didn’t really have any drive or motivation before I got into it, I didn’t really see the need to put in max effort or give my all, thought bare minimum was enough. So once I started applying myself in music I found myself doing the same with other aspects of my life
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Right now music has become a necessity and something that I have to do, don’t get it twisted I still want to do it I just miss being able to write just because.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes the public version of me is the real me
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Soo my journey began spiritually, to summarize my mother took me to see a father, one who they claim receives divinations from above. Long story short we talked and at the end he told me I had a gift for music I should write and things will fall into place, from there I went and the rest is history, so to answer. Your question id say both because he had to tell me to do what I was born to do😅
