Today we’d like to introduce you to Acacia Muhs.
Hi Acacia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sure, I’m Acacia. ‘Acacia’ is a plant, a type of wood but most importantly a beautiful tree. A strong tree, and that is my story.
Not all trees start off strong, but they do eventually grow into big strong amazing trees. A lot of my life was understanding what type of tree I am, my strengths and weaknesses. Understanding my seasons under God and eventually being a tree strong enough for others to hang in. Or hide under to get shade. I was born in Nebraska, got a chance to live in Vancouver BC, Canada when I was little. As I grew, I got to live in Seattle where I developed in my deeper inner knowing and realized I wanted to act/ model. Once I had that realization, its like doors just started opening, I had this big photoshoot booked in Vancouver. The month after, my picture was up in a Canadian mall. I started acting classes, I was involved in a lot of short films and plays. Ever heard of ‘The Vagina monologues’? mmkay. Did a year of acting school, then moved my cute butt to LA, got myself involved with a lot of background work while trying to secure an agent. Getting to work alongside Angela Bassett on the set of ‘911’, working on the set of Grey’s Anatomy, iHeart Radio. Opening my mind up to bigger projects so, where I am right now, is about my passions but enjoying all of them. Modeling, fitness training, acting, writing, traveling and whatever else. Filling my plate with the good stuff. that’s my right now.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everyone is tested and tried, no one gets to outlive that. Absolutely, there were struggles but there were things I had to be aware of and learn about.
I will say, however, life is much smoother since allowing God to lead, listening to him and his plan. My plan had me on extremely bumpy roads, missing dates but with his plan, the roads are much smoother. Making sure I’m more organized and prepared for the things I’m calling in.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When I lived in Seattle and then moved to Los Angeles, the focus was acting, booking whatever I could. Even finding myself on a Verizon commercial, a day I’ll never forget. I was very proud of how many sets I stepped foot in, how many faces I got to see in person and interact with. Along side acting, I got to be involved with many modeling projects, and music videos. One modeling project was with New Era Hats, and I’ll never forget where I was when I saw I was featured on their site. Models always hope their pictures are featured, just as in acting. I’m always hoping my part landed in the final cut.
When you’re an actress, your agent might call you do this tomorrow or that next week and if you’re passionate about what you’re doing. You’re pretty much blowing off a lot of other things to be available to acting. I just realized, (especially now that I’m getting older) I love acting but I love traveling, I love being free to other projects like modeling and I realized awhile back I need to treat my body differently.
No more 16-18 hour work days without proper food and training. So, currently I am a personal trainer, working and loving the body. The focus now- is the body and God! that physique huntyyyyy!! So in all, I’m still involved in all projects but incorporating in healthy ways to meet longer hours or higher demands in ways I didn’t understand before. But that’s one of the reasons I love God, it’s all connected baby.
And nothing sets me apart from anyone, If I speak/ do anything and it resonates with you, you understand me. You’re not purposely setting me apart, you just get me. I’m here to see the people who are meant to see me, work with the people I’m meant to work with, ect. winning.
What were you like growing up?
Bad. Bad and curious as ever. A lover girl, a heart like Romeo, crying over Rosaline but once Juliet pops up, game over. My head was more into music, boys and adventures than school. I had an interesting childhood, so once I got to school that was playtime, that was free time. I let myself be a kid when my parents weren’t looking, and found ways to enjoy life. I was raised in Vancouver, so a lot of my time was with friends, riding skytrains and buses to go to English bay downtown. I wasn’t scared because when you’re a kid you’re not completely understanding all the dangers lurking so a lot of my time as a kid was jumping on a bus going somewhere, listening to music, manifesting as the buildings flashed by.
