Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Roese.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been making fashion content for a few years now, and I’ll be honest, I was exactly the person this whole account exists for. Full blown overspender, trend chaser, the kind of person who’d buy a new outfit for an event she’d already worn four outfits to that month alone. I loved making the content, loved sharing the inspo, but at some point I clocked that everyone in my comments was thinking the exact same thing I was every morning, which is essentially just “what the f do I wear.” Turns out that’s not a personality flaw, it’s just what happens when nobody ever taught you a formula.
That became the whole account. I’ve never wanted to be a haul creator, my page runs on outfit formulas and honest wardrobe advice, minimal styling that’s actually meant to be worn rather than just looked at. I work in marketing full time as well, so I bring a bit of that thinking to it, treating the people who follow me like they’re making considered decisions, not just scrolling past another outfit post.
Where I’m at now is building on that same idea, just bigger. I’m working on something that takes the formula thinking further, helping people actually shop with it instead of just watching it play out on my page. Can’t say too much yet, but it’s the natural next step from everything I’ve already been doing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not even slightly, no. I run this alongside a full time marketing job, so a good chunk of my best content has been filmed at 6am in questionable lighting before I’ve had a coffee, which isn’t really a struggle so much as just the actual cost of doing this properly instead of pretending it’s effortless.
The bigger one was figuring out who I was actually making content for. Early on I’d post whatever got the most attention without really asking whether that attention was coming from the right people, and I ended up with an audience that looked nothing like the person I was trying to reach. Realising that and actually pulling the content back to what my niche is genuinely about was uncomfortable, mostly because it meant admitting some of my best performing posts had been the wrong move.
And then there’s just the standard fight every creator has, getting someone to stop scrolling in the first three seconds when a million other reels are fighting for that same three seconds. That one doesn’t go away, you just get slightly less bad at it over time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I actually do is outfit formulas. Not just posting a finished look and hoping it’s useful, but breaking an outfit down into pieces you can swap and rebuild yourself, plus weekly videos on the actual reasoning behind styling and building a wardrobe that works. If you follow me you’re not getting hauls, you’re getting told honestly whether something’s actually worth buying, which sounds like a small distinction until you notice how few accounts in this space are willing to do it.
I’m known for the formulas at this point, and for outfits that are genuinely recreatable with what’s already sitting in someone’s wardrobe rather than aspirational looks that only work in the exact lighting they were shot in. What I’ll say generally is I’m proud that brands who’ve worked with me once keep coming back for a second and third round after seeing it actually perform, that only happens when the content works as a real placement and not just a plug.
What sets me apart is that I’ll tell you when something isn’t worth it. Most creators in this space are incentivised to make everything look essential. I’d rather be right than agreeable in the moment, and that’s the thing that’s actually kept people coming back.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Just that if you’re reading this while staring at a wardrobe full of clothes and still feeling like you have nothing to wear, that’s not a you problem, that’s a formula problem, and I’ve already got a few years of content solving it for free, so really there’s no excuse left.
And since you asked, there is something else. It’s called Your Basics, and the short version is it shows you the outfit formulas that actually work, then tells you honestly which pieces you already own earn their place in them, so you stop buying things that just sit there unworn. It’s everything I’ve been doing on this account, just with the actual shopping problem finally solved too. I’m not giving you the rest of it yet, but it’s close.
