Today we’d like to introduce you to Kizzle .
Hi Kizzle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Atlanta, GA, but lived in Hollywood, Florida as a youngin’ up until I was 13.
Growing up, I tried a multitude of creative and physical outlets that shaped me into the creative I am today. Some included activities like karate, MMA, boxing, tap-dancing, singing, even ballet.
Before moving back to ATL, I was introduced to FL Studio, a beat-making software, from a childhood friend. Over the years, I kept cultivating my music production and songwriting skills, inspired by music artists that wore multiple hats (e.g. Tyler, The Creator, Tame Impala, Kaytranada, Kanye West) The artistic lock-in really started happening around COVID, as I was in my room 24/8 just cooking something new.
By the time I graduated high school in 22′, I had convinced myself music would be my life no matter what. Around that time, I would submit my music to Twitch streamers that would review tracks live and I happened to get my song played for T-Pain. He listened to it for about a minute, then said “The mix ain’t it.” The moment he said that, I said to myself “Yeah…. I’m going to school for this.” Ended up going to SAE Institute Atlanta and got my diploma in audio.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s been some up and downs most definitely. Creative burnout, distractions, sudden environment changes, knowing who’s in your best interest, and self-doubt to name a few. But it’s all a part of the process to success I’ve notice as time passes.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an ATL-based Music Producer & Engineer. I like to experiment with a lot of different sounds, but my main genres are Electronic, Dance, R&B, and HipHop. I’d like to think what sets me apart from others is my ear, creating records that go against the grain while still pulling listeners to something they can “feel”. Right now, I have two singles produced for ATl-based rapper Bryserk, “FEELIN’ DA VIBES INTERLUDE” & “DA GUY INTERLUDE”, which is on all streaming platforms. I also produced a record for multi-talented singer horebby titled “part of me”, which is Soundcloud exclusive at the moment. They’re altogether dope and excited to share the future works.
How do you think about luck?
I consider everything that’s happened to me and what’s to come, for better or worse, more of a blessing than it is luck. I’m extremely thankful for everything I’ve either gained or lost pursuing music full-time. I thank Jesus Christ for the doors opened in my life. For the people I’ve met. For the music I’ve created. For the things I’ve had to let go, just to be reminded later it can be rebuilt, but better.
