Life & Work with Laura Soleil of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Soleil.

Hi Laura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story starts in Venezuela. My parents made the brave decision to leave and pursue a better life here in America. Growing up I was always involved in the performing arts with dreams of being an actress and also helping people. I studied ballet, jazz, musical theater, chorus; I was that kid that would find any reason to sing or hum a tune. I used to watch Shakiras music videos on replay as a kid and I believe that is in part where my love for dancing also came from. Today I continue to pursue my dreams of acting and modeling, growing my real estate business, while also figuring out a way to start some kind of holistic healing group? Throughout the years my spirituality has deepened, and has led me to find natural remedies and ways of healing the body. I do a lot of energy work and that is something I would like to expand more on.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. lol. I would say the biggest one is when I got sick. For about 2 years my life completely stopped. I would suddenly start getting really sick out of nowhere, recover a few weeks later, go back to normal, and boom, the cycle would start again. This went on for about 8 months before my health seriously declined. Doctors couldn’t figure out what was going on with me and it got to the point where I could barely walk due to how much inflammation and pain my body was in. I’ll spare you all the gory details, but I was diagnosed with an illness called Nutcracker Syndrome and had to have a kidney autotransplant. Every now and then I think of all the doctors and nurses I saw during that time, and I’m so grateful for the ones who truly took the time to care for me. They helped save my life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I always say one day I’ll be your favorite villain. I love acting in and helping scripts come to life where the main character is a badass woman who doesn’t let anyone get in her way. I want to play the villains, the anti-heroes, the misunderstood. Those are some of the most fun characters to play in my opinion. Also, give me a script tonight and i’ll have it memorized and ready to go for you in the morning.. I’ve discovered that I really enjoy writing as a creative outlet. A couple years ago I took a break from corporate world and ended up writing a whole mini series of children’s books. That’s still in the works, but I did put out an independent intro to spanish kids mini book, and I’m really proud of that. I had an idea, saw it all the way through, made it come to life and got it published. Never had I thought I would do something like that.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was that kid that loved to perform and put on shows for my family. My friends and I would choreograph a routine, a fashion show, a comedy show, something to entertain others. I was in a lot of dance classes as a child, including joropo which is a traditional venezuelan dance. I loved dressing up in costumes and finding any reason to celebrate. I was also very much a nature girlie who loved exploring the woods and always needed to be near the ocean no matter what. If I was sad, happy, angry, moody; the solution was always the ocean.
