Today we’d like to introduce you to LegaCy.

Hi LegaCy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well my name is Carleone but I go by Legacy. I grew up in Marietta, Georgia. My mom used to want to sing professionally & I have uncles / cousins who make beats. I used to watch them produce often but I didn’t pick it up myself until much later in life. Growing up I liked to read and I loved writing stories in school. It eventually translated to me writing poems and raps which then lead to me joining a collective in high school. I learned officially how to record and produce with them. We went through artist development, Shot music videos, & Performed around Atlanta which are core experiences that have shaped me today. Eventually, Our perspectives became misaligned and I departed to pursue a career of my own.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Id consider my road to be normal. It’s had its fair share of bumps but what kind of journey would it be if it was only smooth sailing 100% of the time? I’ve dealt with navigating depression & low self esteem, Living in unhealthy/unsafe environments, Envy, Not having needed guidance in places, And much more. These experiences shaped the person I am today so I wouldn’t change anything, but it’s been a ride for sure.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself a creative. Under that umbrella is a Rapper, Singer, Producer, Engineer, Performer, Lyricist, Public Figure, And whatever else I feel like doing in the moment. I specialize in evoking emotion using whatever medium I see fit.

Some people only know me for my rapping & singing. Some people know me because I produced a song they like. Some have only seen me perform live. I used to engineer sessions so some people know me from that. Depending on who you ask, I’m known for a couple different things.

I’m proud of all of my work, Especially when it’s paid work. I aim to fulfill everyone’s vision when they put trust in me to help them paint it. Thats also what I feel separates me from others, My passion.
I breathe art & creativity. I believe it’s what we are put on this earth to do & it’s my best form of expression. So if I can bring that out in someone else, It’s just as fulfilling as bringing it out of myself.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would definitely consider myself as a risk taker. The biggest risk I’ve taken has to be me allowing myself to vulnerable in my music. Like I said before, I struggled with self esteem growing up, So when I started showing up publicly as a version of myself who didn’t have it all together, It was terrifying at first. Now, My vulnerability is my armor. It’s lead to me creating my project “A Star Is Born” which birthed an entire new version of me. Someone my younger self would be proud of and look up to.

I think that every opportunity taken in this industry is a risk. There’s shady promoters, Faulty playlisting, And people who claim to have more experience than they actually do. I’ve dealt with nearly all of them and it’s made me wiser. Every fail, misplaced trust, and loss.
If you don’t take a risk, You involuntarily take the risk to not become who you wish to be. So take the risk.
