Life & Work with Lindy Blosser of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindy Blosser.

Hi Lindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always enjoyed drawing, so I decided to make it my major in college. I graduated with a bachelor’s in Drawing and Painting in 2014. Afterwards I directed my creativity towards family and raising my kids. When my health declined and I found myself needing extra funds for medical expenses I started making commissions. It’s amazing how something like chronic illness can be a blessing. I’ve learned to be so grateful for so many things. Sickness brought me back to art and I truly hadn’t realized how much I had missed it. It didn’t take long before pastels stole my heart. I am self taught with this medium and am fully enjoying the learning process. Even though I sometimes find myself saying “I don’t know what I’m doing” at certain stages in my paintings, it all ends up coming together by the end. This is how I choose to see life. This part may be a bit awkward but there’s so much beauty to look forward to!
And pastels for me are one of those beautiful things. Part of the reason I love them so much is for their qualities. They are incredibly fragile just like our lives are. When using them against my sanded paper, I have a pile of colored dust gathering at the bottom of my easel to show what I’ve given up or shed to get to where I am. Some of this dust can be collected to make new sticks, just like our heartaches or trials can be molded into something different- a new layer to who we are. Pastels are unlike any other medium, as they are almost pure pigment with very little binder, so when applied to a surface the pigments will refract the light. They are also the most permanent medium if cared for properly. Life is like this. It is something beautiful, something fragile, and something that will affect the world around us long after we are gone.
Since I started seriously painting in 2025 I have created countless pieces that I am really proud of and shown my work in many national and international shows. I have already met some of my big goals and couldn’t be more happy with this journey I am on.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am a mom of two boys (6 and 9). Finding the time to create can be difficult and I often find myself being drawn away from my easel to perform my most important job, but I am very grateful that my boys give me my creative time. It has become an essential outlet for me.
Another big hurdle has been wrestling with my own thoughts. I have had to teach myself to not compare my work to that of other artists. Every artist has their own distinct voice and style and no one can speak with my voice but myself. I’ve also had to learn to take chances and believe in my creations enough to enter competitions and juried shows.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an award winning soft pastel artist and was recently awarded The Next Generation of Pastelists Award in the 2026 Pastel Society of America 54th Annual Exhibition: Enduring Brilliance which is held at the National Arts Club in New York. I am really excited about this and am looking forward to what the future holds.
I enjoy painting portraits and figures, but also find great joy in painting nature and the animals on my small homestead. When creating pieces, I believe it is important to look for life’s hidden beauties not just in bleak situations but also in our everyday lives. I want my work to portray the human spirit in all of its facets. My goal is to capture the emotions that we feel as we go through life, and to communicate these emotions with my audience. I want to inspire people to look for the magic around them and to cherish the fragility of life.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Most of my favorite childhood memories happened outside. I don’t think that I could label one as my absolute favorite as they all are very special. I remember one time my friend and I had been exploring the woods, far past where we should’ve been, and we stumbled upon a golf course. We decided to roll down a sand hill on the edge of it. I still remember how cool the sand felt on my skin and how truly exhilarating the whole experience was, with the possibility of being caught. Mind you, I was a very good kid.
