We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mark Korley. Check out our conversation below.
Mark, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Spending time with family – every smile and milestone fills my days with joy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello readers. I’m Pastor Mark, the lead pastor of Abundant Life World Ministries (ALWM) in Atlanta, GA. Our ministry is a global faith community built on Scripture, the grace of Jesus, and a concrete commitment to love in action. We pursue hungry souls with sound, gospel-centered teaching, vibrant worship, and practical ministry that helps people encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and live out the gospel in every area of life—family, work, and community—through local churches, online teaching, and international mission partnerships.
What makes ALWM unique is our global network wrapped around a local, relational approach. We empower everyday believers to lead, disciple, and multiply, blending robust biblical instruction with hands-on service. We work to lift the vulnerable, train leaders, and plant churches in new communities so the wave of God’s mercy reaches farther and deeper than before.
Our story began as a humble Bible study that grew into a local church and then expanded into a worldwide ministry family. Today we’re focused on expanding digital discipleship, launching church-planting initiatives, and building sustainable outreach programs that create lasting impact in communities around the world.
Thank you for this chance to share. We’d love for you to visit us—online or in person—at the times and locations listed on our site www.abundantlifeworld.org
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
In high school, one of my friends lost her mom. She was so broken. I went to my dormitory and wrote her a note to encourage her. Her countenance changed after reading the letter. There was power in the words of encouragement.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Failure teaches lessons that success never could. When you fail, you’re forced to slow down, reflect, and face parts of yourself you might have ignored. It humbles you, shows you your limits, and reminds you how much you need God’s help and grace. Failure makes you stronger, not just because you bounce back, but because you gain wisdom, patience, and compassion for others who struggle too. Success may feel good, but failure shapes you into a deeper, more grounded, and more understanding person.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
If you asked my closest friends what really matters to me, they’d probably smile and say, “He cares about people.” They’d tell you I don’t just want to do well in life—I want to do good. Faith would definitely come up, because my relationship with God shapes how I see everything. At the end of the day, they’d probably sum it up by saying what matters most to me is loving God, loving people, and trying to leave every place and every person a little better than I found them.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Honestly, the things I’m doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years are the small, consistent investments—like being present for my family, deepening my walk with God, and taking time to grow as a person. None of it brings quick results, but I know years from now, the seeds I’m planting in relationships, character, and faith will shape the kind of life I live and the legacy I leave. It’s slow work, but it’s worth it.
