Meet Catherine Baldet Taylor of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Baldet Taylor.

Hi Catherine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In August 2023 I visited a gallery at Miami circle and was totally amazed by the Mixed Media of a New Yorker artist.
I decided to create my own art using the same kind of medias ( Japanese paper, acrylic paint and fabrics).
I started my first canvas and enjoyed it so much! I did a few mixed media and I impressed my husband and the whole family. My brother in law Fonde who had sold some of his sculptures through dk Art Gallery, sent some pictures of my work to Donna Krueger, the owner of the gallery.
Immediately she answered telling me she loved my art and I became a guest artist at dk Art Gallery in March 2024.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well I wanted to enter some Art show in Birmingham Al, but of course as a new member I had the smallest spot in a very bad location. I was upset to start with but finally it turned out pretty well.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an outdoor woman, I get inspiration from wild nature : trees, flowers, birds, butterflies and animals of whole kind. My fabrics match with my paintings (shapes and colors). I draw or paint some vases and pots creating an elaborate still life. My works are meant to evoke a magical world, a world of mistery and deep wonder, of beauty and balance. I endeavor to create not only a visual stimulating playground for the eye, but a restorative tonic for the mind, as well.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Well sometimes I refer to Instagram, Pinterest but most of the time I start with the fabrics and shapes of vases and lay them on my canvas.
I get a lot of inspiration from the trip I have made all around the world.
