Meet Chidi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chidi.

Hi Chidi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been drawn to work that creates conversation, care, creativity, and transformation. My journey has not been a straight line, but every part of it has shaped the way I show up today as Chidi, the host and creative voice of Obee’s Box.

My background is in public health. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, and I am also certified through Men’s Health Network as a Men’s Health Educator. That foundation helped me understand how important education, prevention, early awareness, and honest conversations are — especially when it comes to men’s health and wellness.

Obee’s Box is a men’s self-care platform and podcast created to help men age better, live healthier, stay sharp, and stop letting life wear them down. Through the podcast and the broader brand, I get to have honest conversations about the things many men carry quietly — stress, aging, grooming, health, confidence, relationships, identity, and the need to take better care of themselves in real life.

What started as an idea around men’s self-care has grown into a larger mission: to remind men that self-care is not weakness, vanity, or something they have to earn. It is maintenance. It is preparation. It is part of how they keep showing up for themselves, their families, their work, and their purpose.

I also absolutely adore fashion. Fashion gives me life. It has always felt like a form of creativity, expression, confidence, and storytelling. That is one of the reasons modeling has become so meaningful to me. It gives me another way to express my creativity while stepping into visibility in a fresh way.

I am currently pursuing commercial modeling, with an interest in lifestyle, wellness, beauty, fashion, and mature fashion representation. I am working toward landing representation with the right agency, and for me, that journey connects with the same message I share through Obee’s Box: visibility, confidence, reinvention, and self-care matter at every stage of life.

One thing I am very intentional about is not preaching perfection. I believe people connect more with honesty than polish. On the Obee’s Box show, I allow room for real moments, mistakes, bloopers, and learning as I go, because that is part of being true to myself. I want the work to feel professional, but also human. I want men listening to know that growth does not require perfection — it requires honesty, consistency, and the willingness to keep showing up.

I am naturally a private person, so I tend to lead with the work and the mission more than my personal life. But if there is one thing my journey has taught me, it is that people are often carrying more than they show. That is why I care about building spaces, brands, and conversations that help people feel seen, supported, and reminded that they still matter.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. It has not been a smooth road at all.

There have been seasons that were excruciatingly painful — from experiencing a life-threatening illness, to multiple pivots in business, to grieving the loss of a family member, to having to keep rebuilding even when things did not go as planned.

After going through a life-threatening illness, I had to stop and truly learn how to take care of myself. That experience changed the way I saw self-care. It was no longer just about looking good or having a routine. It became about survival, healing, maintenance, awareness, and learning how to honor the body, mind, and spirit.

That is one of the reasons I am such a strong advocate for self-care for the whole person — inside and out, from head to toe. Through Obee’s Box, especially as Chidi, I speak to men about the importance of caring for the whole man: his physical health, mental health, emotional well-being, grooming, confidence, relationships, identity, and the parts of himself he may have neglected while carrying life.

There were moments when I had to pause, rethink, start over, and ask myself if I still had the strength to keep going. But even through the difficult seasons, I have never lost my hope. I still believe deeply in the vision, the mission, and the dreams that have been placed in my heart.

The challenges have taught me resilience, humility, patience, and the importance of staying true to myself. They have also shaped the way I show up through Obee’s Box. I understand that people are often carrying things others cannot see, and that is why I care so much about creating conversations around self-care, wellness, identity, and showing up for yourself before life completely wears you down.

So no, it has not been easy. But I still have high hopes. I still have dreams I believe will come to pass. And I am learning that sometimes the painful parts of the journey do not disqualify you — they prepare you to build with more purpose.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work focuses on men’s self-care, wellness education, fashion, and honest storytelling.

As Chidi, the host and creative voice of Obee’s Box, I create conversations that help men think differently about how they care for themselves. Obee’s Box is centered on helping men age better, live healthier, stay sharp, and stop letting life wear them down. The work covers self-care from head to toe — grooming, health awareness, confidence, relationships, emotional well-being, identity, and practical lifestyle habits.

What I specialize in is making self-care feel real and relatable for men. I do not present it as perfection, vanity, or something soft. I present it as maintenance, strength, confidence, and a necessary part of showing up well in life. My background in public health and my certification as a Men’s Health Educator through Men’s Health Network help me approach the topic with education and awareness, while still keeping the conversation practical and human.

I am also pursuing commercial modeling, with a focus on lifestyle, wellness, beauty, fashion, and mature fashion representation. Fashion has always been one of my creative outlets. It gives me life, and modeling allows me to express confidence, creativity, and visual storytelling in a new way. I am currently working toward landing representation with the right agency.

What I am most proud of is creating work that gives people permission to show up more fully. For men, that means reminding them that their health, appearance, confidence, and inner well-being matter. For myself, modeling is part of that same message — that visibility, reinvention, and creativity do not expire with age.

What sets me apart is that I bring together public health, men’s wellness, fashion, creativity, and authenticity. I am not trying to preach perfection. I am building work that is useful, honest, and human.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very quiet, shy, and more of a loner. I was not the loudest person in the room, but I was always observing, imagining, and creating.

I have always been a creative person. I loved arts and crafts and could spend hours making things with my hands. I would create anything I could think of, including cloth handbags and little handmade pieces. My mother even signed me up for private sewing classes because she saw that creative side in me, although I have to admit I quit after about three weeks.

Fashion and design were always part of my imagination. I wanted a doll so badly when I was younger that I would draw my own paper dolls, design clothes for them, cut them out, and style them myself. I even created dolls from corn. I learned how to create from what was around me. Looking back, I realize that was creativity, resourcefulness, and imagination at work.

I also cared deeply about people. For a long time, I thought nursing would be the path for me because I wanted to help, care for, and support others. Although my journey did not unfold exactly that way, that desire to care for people never left me. It simply took a different shape through public health, men’s health education, storytelling, and the work I now do through Obee’s Box.

A lot of who I was growing up still shows up in my work today. The quiet observer became a storyteller. The little girl who loved fashion, design, and styling is now pursuing commercial modeling and using fashion as a form of creative expression. The person who loved to care for others is now using Obee’s Box to advocate for men’s self-care, wellness, confidence, and whole-person care from head to toe.

So in many ways, I am still that same creative girl — just more grown, more courageous, and more willing to use my voice.
