Cindy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Signet Nannies grew out of my own experience working as a babysitter and nanny. As I transitioned between positions, families would frequently ask me, “When you’re ready to leave, can you help us find someone just like you?” That question stayed with me and eventually became the seed for Signet Nannies.

Through my experience, I came to understand the childcare relationship from both sides. Families were not simply looking for someone to supervise their children; they were searching for a caregiver they could genuinely trust; someone dependable, nurturing and well suited to the unique needs of their household. At the same time, I saw that professional caregivers deserved to be treated with greater respect, consideration and support. I realized that many placements failed not due to qualifications, but because of fit.

That understanding inspired me to build something more than a traditional nanny agency. I envisioned a relationship-centered organization that would strengthen families, elevate caregivers and thoughtfully guide both through one of the most important decisions they will make. At Signet, every placement begins with listening. We conduct in-depth conversations to understand each family’s unique culture, values and needs, make thoughtful and family-specific recommendations, and ensure that caregivers never feel as though they are simply another number.

Building Signet has been a journey of steady growth, learning and perseverance. Along the way, I pursued my legal education and became an attorney. My experience in the legal profession has further shaped the principles I bring to leadership which includes integrity, professionalism, careful communication, thoughtful problem-solving and the importance of earning and maintaining trust. These principles translate into transparent practices, clear communication protocols and accountability systems that protect both families and caregivers.

What began with families asking me to help them find a trusted caregiver has now grown into a regional childcare organization serving families and caregivers across Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. As Signet expands throughout the Southeast, our purpose remains the same: to provide trusted childcare, thoughtfully guided, while ensuring that families feel supported, caregivers feel valued and every relationship is handled with professionalism and care.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road, and I’m grateful for that. Entrepreneurship has taught me that building a business is not simply about having a strong idea; it requires patience, resilience, adaptability and a willingness to keep learning.

One of the greatest challenges in the childcare industry is earning trust. Parents are making an intensely personal decision when they invite someone into their home and entrust that person with their children. At the same time, professional caregivers are trusting an agency to represent them honestly, respect their experience and connect them with families who will value their work. Signet serves both families and caregivers, and learning how to thoughtfully balance their competing needs, expectations and concerns has been one of the most important parts of the journey.

Growth has presented its own challenges. As the company has expanded, I have had to remain intentional about protecting the values on which Signet was founded. Services may evolve and our reach may grow, but our commitments to integrity, excellence, compassion and trust cannot change. For instance, as we expanded into new states, we resisted pressure to rush placements and instead invested in deeper vetting processes and training systems, even when it slowed our scaling. I have learned that meaningful growth is not simply about becoming larger; it is about building the right systems, surrounding yourself with the right people and ensuring that the quality of the experience grows with the organization.

I also pursued law school and became an attorney while continuing my entrepreneurial journey. That required discipline, perseverance and clarity of purpose. There have certainly been difficult seasons, unexpected challenges and moments when the next step was not immediately clear. However, each challenge has strengthened my leadership and deepened my faith. I’ve learned to approach both people and problems with greater patience and wisdom. The road has not been easy, but it has been meaningful, and that is where the real value lies. I am grateful for everything this journey has taught me.

My journey to becoming an attorney has further shaped how Signet operates. Both entrepreneurship and the practice of law have reinforced my commitment to professionalism, careful communication, thoughtful problem-solving and earning trust through consistent action. My legal background allows me to approach contracts, compliance, caregiver protections and family agreements with both wisdom and care and ensure that every relationship is not only relational but also grounded in clear, fair and protective agreements.

As Signet continues to grow, our vision is to become the most trusted childcare organization in the Southeast and known for the longevity of our placements, the professionalism of our caregivers, the peace of mind we provide families and our unwavering commitment to the values on which the company was built. What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my goal is to continue building Signet Nannies into the most trusted childcare organization in the Southeast. Having expanded our reach across Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina, our next chapter is not simply about entering more markets. It is about deepening our presence in the communities we already serve and ensuring that our growth remains thoughtful, sustainable and consistent with our values.

Deepening our presence means investing in local teams who understand the unique needs of each community, expanding our service offerings to include specialized training and mentorship programs for caregivers, and building meaningful partnerships with schools, pediatricians, faith and family service organizations, and employers committed to providing childcare solutions that support productivity and employee retention. We are also committed to enhancing our technology and systems so that families receive more attentive, personalized guidance and caregivers have better tools, resources, and professional development opportunities. These investments allow us to scale thoughtfully without losing the relationship-centered experience that defines Signet

Professionally, I also look forward to continuing to grow as an attorney and entrepreneur. Both paths challenge me in different ways, but they are connected by the same principles: service, integrity, careful communication and trust. My legal background positions Signet to become an advocate for childcare professionals whether through fair contract standards, policy work that elevates the profession or legal resources that protect both families and caregivers. I am excited about the future, but I am equally committed to growing with intention.

For me, success is not simply about becoming larger; it is about increasing our impact by serving more families, elevating more caregivers and strengthening the childcare profession itself while remaining faithful to the purpose and values that brought Signet this far. That is the measure by which I will know we have truly succeeded.
