Meet Cornelius Lassin of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cornelius Lassin.

Hi Cornelius, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Courage of Faith LLC began as a vision rooted in service, creativity, and perseverance. I started with a simple goal — to bring people together through food that speaks to the soul. My background in hospitality and logistics taught me discipline and precision, while my faith gave me the courage to take the leap into entrepreneurship.

What began as small, home-based culinary projects evolved into a business that reflects both excellence and heart. Every dish I create carries a message of resilience and gratitude — blending comfort cuisine with presentation that inspires. Atlanta’s vibrant food scene has been the perfect canvas for this journey, allowing me to connect with diverse communities and showcase how food can be both art and ministry.

Today, Courage of Faith LLC stands as a testament to growth through faith, hard work, and purpose. My story is still unfolding, but it’s built on the belief that courage isn’t just about taking risks — it’s about serving others with authenticity and love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. Building Courage of Faith LLC required balancing vision with reality — learning how to manage resources, stay consistent, and keep faith when progress felt slow. Early on, I faced challenges with funding, finding reliable partnerships, and navigating the logistics of turning creative ideas into sustainable operations.

But each obstacle became a lesson. I learned to adapt, to trust the process, and to keep moving forward even when doors seemed closed. Those experiences shaped my discipline and deepened my commitment to excellence. They reminded me that courage isn’t the absence of struggle — it’s the strength to keep going despite it.

Every challenge refined my purpose, and today, those same lessons fuel the way I lead, create, and serve through my business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a self-taught chef and founder of Courage of Faith LLC, I specialize in soulful comfort cuisine with a refined, creative edge. My craft is rooted in technique, presentation, and emotion — transforming familiar flavors into elevated experiences that speak to both tradition and innovation. I’m known for blending Southern warmth with global inspiration, creating dishes that feel personal yet polished.

My inspiration as a chef comes from the people who shaped me long before I ever stepped into a kitchen professionally — my grandmother and my father. They taught me that food is more than a meal; it’s a language of love, discipline, and creativity. Watching them cook with intention, patience, and pride showed me how powerful a simple dish can be when it’s made from the heart.
Their influence guides everything I create today.

The warmth of my grandmother’s comfort dishes and the precision my father brought to every meal form the foundation of my culinary style. I draw from those memories each time I craft a plate — blending tradition with my own creative approach to flavor and presentation.

Atlanta’s diverse food culture continues to inspire me as well. The city pushes me to innovate, stay curious, and honor the roots that made me. My work is a tribute to the people who poured into me and the community that fuels my growth as a chef.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I believe mentorship is one of the most valuable parts of growth — both personally and professionally. Having a mentor has helped me stay grounded, sharpen my skills, and see my craft from new perspectives. My advice for finding a mentor is to look for someone whose values align with your vision, not just their success. The right mentor challenges you, holds you accountable, and helps you refine your purpose.

Networking, for me, has always been about genuine connection. I’ve learned that showing up authentically — whether at culinary events, community gatherings, or through collaborations — opens doors naturally. When people see your passion and consistency, mentorship often finds you.

What’s worked best is staying teachable. Even as a chef and business owner, I approach every conversation as a chance to learn something new.
