Meet Jade Gonzalez of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Gonzalez.

Hi Jade, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Since I was a young girl I’ve always been drawn to doing hair. while I was in college pursuing a career in business, I wondered if the traditional path was for me, Once I realized the beauty industry was my true passion I changed my course and decided to attend cosmetology school. I graduated cosmetology school In 1999, and then began my professional journey in this industry . By 2008, After years hands on education and building a loyal clientele , my husband and I saw the opportunity and opened Jade Salon of Atlanta, Since then I have been dedicated to the work of making people feel beautiful inside and out.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Balancing the art of doing hair with the reality of managing a salon was never simple. There were moments I didn’t want to step away from the chair, because that’s where I feel most at home. But over time, I realized that learning the business side was just as important. It was tough at first, but now, I’ve grown confident handling both worlds. I’ve gained so much knowledge, what I know now compared to when I started is worlds apart, and I am so much better for those challenges.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My husband, a fellow stylist and I have worked together for over 20 years in the business. We’ve become recognized statewide for our expertise in Japanese thermal hair straightening, also known as Japanese reconditioning, which has been a key focus for us. In addition, we specialize in a range of hair color techniques, and most recently, we’ve expanded to offer luxury head spa services. About 4 years ago our son Evan joined Jade Salon of Atlanta’s team and has helped us grow. I am most proud of getting to work with my family everyday and truly enjoying our time together growing the business. Our main goal is to give our clients a wonderful experience and doing beautiful hair.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to young hairdressers is simple: never settle. Always aim to outdo who you were yesterday. Your cosmetology license is just the beginning—keep learning, keep growing by reading, taking classes and working on yourself as a person And above all, prioritize your client’s experience. Their trust and satisfaction will define your success.
