Meet Jeremy Hughes of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Hughes.

Jeremy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up on a dirt road and made things in the yard to keep myself entertained. I’ve been painting pictures for 30 years and making miniatures for 6. I basically make short stories in tiny, detailed scenes. It took me a long time to find out that making & painting little sculptures would be so invigorating.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everyday is a struggle to master, some things are beyond our control but I believe an artist’s desire to forge their own way is far more gratifying than answering to our moronic overlords. Lol.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make miniature scenes. Some call them dioramas or vignettes. I specialize in combining original ideas with familiar & unfamiliar subjects to create a fun story people can connect to.
What am I most proud of? Getting artwork into people’s hands, connecting them to the real world and away from the constant flat-screen existence.
What I am told that sets me apart is my painterly style & 3d composition. It’s nice knowing that people can recognize my work by how it is painted by hand. There’s nothing quite like painting something you have also sculpted & designed.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
When art transcends your expectations.
Everyone loves surprises
