Meet Lindsay Shockey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Shockey.

Hi Lindsay, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been drawn to art, design, and creating things, which eventually led me to a career in interior design. For the past 17 years, I’ve been fortunate to work in an industry that allows me to tell stories through architecture and design. But my journey hasn’t always been easy. I’ve experienced loss, setbacks, and moments when I questioned whether I had the strength to keep going.

Over time, I learned that confidence isn’t something you simply have, it’s something you build. It comes through experience, through learning, failure, and by choosing to take the next step even when you aren’t sure what’s ahead.

That realization became the foundation for my program Constructing Confidence, where I combine my passion for design, education, and mentorship to help others recognize their worth, build resilience, and trust themselves enough to take action.

Today, I’m a designer, wife, mother, mentor, and Mrs. Georgia America 2026. Each chapter of my life has helped construct the woman I am today, and I’m still building. I believe our stories aren’t defined by what happens to us, but by what we choose to do with what we’ve been given.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all has the path been smooth. Finding a job when the industry was struggling as well as being given the opportunity to start something new and have it all fall apart in front of you. Those are the moments when I had to dig deep and keep moving.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work for a boutique hospitality design firm in Atlanta, Georgia, specializing in hotel and hospitality design. As a designer, I love creating spaces that tell a story and leave a lasting impression on the people who experience them.

What I’m most proud of, however, goes beyond the work itself. I’m proud to be part of a firm that values not only good design, but also the people behind it. I’m surrounded by a team that recognizes me as an individual and supports the things that are important to me both professionally and personally.

That support has meant so much to me as I pursued my goal of becoming Mrs. America. Having an employer that encourages me to chase a dream outside of the office while continuing to support my career is something I don’t take for granted. I believe that culture sets our firm apart, it’s a place where creativity, collaboration and individuality are genuinely valued.

What were you like growing up?
I was a pretty quiet child, or at least, that’s how I remember myself. Others might tell you differently, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that what I thought was being quiet was often just being observant. I watched, I listened, and I took in more than I probably realized at the time.

My childhood was also shaped by a life-changing loss. I lost my mom in an accident, and suddenly my dad had to become both mom and dad. Everything changed in an instant, and our family had to find a new way forward.

That experience shaped me in ways I’m still discovering. It taught me to pay attention, to appreciate the people around me, and to understand that life can change in a moment. While it was a difficult chapter of my childhood, it also gave me the opportunity to grow into the person I am today, someone who values resilience, relationships, perspective and the strength that can come from navigating life’s unexpected challenges.
