Meet Melody Vaughn of Melody Vaughn Interiors (MVI)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Vaughn.

Hi Melody, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story has never been a straight line—and I’ve learned that’s what makes it mine. I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Gainesville, Florida, and have spent much of my adult life between Atlanta and New York City. Each place shaped my eye, my style and my appreciation for how people live.
My career has evolved through interior design, staging, renovations and lifestyle consulting. Through Melody Vaughn Interiors, I’ve had the opportunity to transform everything from individual room to full-home renovations as well as a few commercial projects a resturant, daycare center and a few hair salons. I’ve learned that great design isn’t simply about making a space beautiful—it’s about understanding how people want to live and creating an environment that reflects them.
Today, I work in luxury flooring sales with Myers Flooring while continuing to serve my private MVI clients. This allows me to bring together design, product knowledge, sales and client relationships in a way that feels authentic to me.
At 60, I’m embracing this next chapter with a clearer understanding of who I am and what I bring to the table. I no longer feel the need to fit into one box. I’m an Interior Designer, Lifestyle Consultant, Renovation & Staging Specialist, and Founder of Melody Vaughn Interiors.
Ultimately, my goal is simple: creating spaces that feel like home.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has definitely had its challenges. I’ve had to navigate career changes, entrepreneurship, financial uncertainty and the challenge of building a business while also managing the many responsibilities of life. There were times when I questioned whether I was on the right path, but each transition taught me something valuable about resilience, adaptability and trusting my own vision.
One of my biggest lessons has been learning that success doesn’t always happen on the timeline you expect. I’ve had to redefine what success looks like for me and give myself permission to evolve. Today, I see the twists and turns as part of my story—not setbacks. They’ve made me more resourceful, confident and intentional about the work I want to do and the life I want to create.

As you know, we’re big fans of Melody Vaughn Interiors (MVI). For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

Creating spaces that feel like home

How do you think about luck?
I believe luck has played a role in my journey, but I also believe you have to be prepared when opportunity arrives. Some of the most meaningful opportunities in my career came through unexpected connections, relationships and moments that I could not have planned.
I’ve also experienced what felt like “bad luck,” but many of those moments ultimately redirected me toward something better or taught me a lesson I needed. Looking back, I don’t see my path as a series of lucky breaks. I see it as a combination of preparation, persistence, relationships and being willing to recognize an opportunity when it appears.
At this stage of my life and career, I’m learning to trust the timing of things a little more—and to be ready when the next door opens.
