Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Allen-Crump.
Hi Natasha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Purple Flower Ladies began back in 2014, originally as NRC Ladies. It started with two sisters, Tasha and Iesha, along with a few of our cousins. As the years went on, life happened, priorities changed, and some of our cousins decided they no longer wanted to continue. But Tasha and Iesha kept going because we believed in what we were building.
From the beginning, one of our biggest goals has been supporting and uplifting women. We started using our social media platforms to promote women-owned businesses, share their products, and even personally try and review some of the products and services.
Over time, Purple Flower Ladies became about more than business—it became about sisterhood, networking, friendship, having fun, and creating opportunities for women to connect. One of our favorite traditions is our annual Ladies Night at the Movies, which we host every year at Studio Movie Grill. Our networking opportunities and signature gift bags have become something the ladies really look forward to!
Today, our team has grown from two to three with the addition of our close friend Yovani. She brings so much passion, energy, and creativity to Purple Flower Ladies and has been a wonderful addition to the team.
What started as a small group of family and friends in 2014 has continued to grow into a community centered around women supporting women. We’re proud of how far Purple Flower Ladies has come, and we’re excited to continue growing, supporting more women-owned businesses, creating memorable experiences, and building genuine sisterhood.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of our biggest challenges has been watching our team get smaller over the years. What started with several ladies eventually became a team of three. With only three of us, there is a lot that goes into keeping Purple Flower Ladies going while also balancing our careers, families, businesses, and everyday lives.
Funding has also been a challenge. We want to create events and experiences that women will genuinely enjoy, but we’re also very conscious of keeping things affordable. We never want women to feel like they have to spend a lot of money just to come out, connect, network, and have a good time.
Planning events, putting together our gift bags, supporting businesses, creating content, networking, and handling everything behind the scenes takes time, creativity, and teamwork. But even with the challenges, we continue because we love bringing women together and seeing the connections and friendships that come from it.
The road hasn’t been perfect, but every challenge has helped us learn, grow, and become more intentional about what we want Purple Flower Ladies to represent.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Purple Flower Ladies is all about bringing women together, supporting women-owned businesses, building genuine connections, and creating experiences where women can simply enjoy themselves.
We specialize in creating opportunities for women to network, socialize, promote their businesses, and meet other women in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Through our social media platforms, we spotlight small businesses, share and review products and services, promote events, and encourage our community to support other women.
We’re also known for our events, especially our annual Ladies Night at the Movies and our networking experiences and gift bags. We put a lot of thought into the little details because we want every woman who attends something we host to feel welcomed, appreciated, and included.
What we’re most proud of is that after all these years, we’re still here. We started this journey in 2014, and even through changes, challenges, smaller teams, busy lives, and funding events ourselves, we’ve continued to believe in the purpose behind Purple Flower Ladies.
What sets us apart is that we’re not trying to make everything about money or numbers. We genuinely want to see other women win. We want to introduce you to a business you may not have known about, help you make a new connection, give you a reason to get out of the house and have some fun, or simply remind you that there is a community of women cheering you on.
For us, Purple Flower Ladies is bigger than an organization—it’s a sisterhood.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, we see women’s networking and community continuing to grow and change. Women are looking for more than traditional networking events where you simply exchange business cards. They want genuine connections, supportive communities, collaborations, and experiences that allow them to build relationships while also having fun.
Social media will continue to play a huge role, especially when it comes to discovering and supporting small and women-owned businesses. At the same time, we believe in-person connections will become even more valuable. People want opportunities to get off social media, meet face-to-face, laugh, network, try something new, and create real friendships.
For Purple Flower Ladies, we see ourselves growing right along with that shift. We would love to expand our events, business spotlights, networking opportunities, community involvement, and partnerships while continuing to keep our experiences affordable and welcoming.
Our goal is to grow without losing what made us special in the first place: real women supporting real women. No matter how much things change over the next 5–10 years, we believe there will always be a need for sisterhood, connection, encouragement, and a space where women can come together and feel supported.
