Meet Torre Sumpter of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Torre Sumpter.

Hi Torre, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Beaded by Torre started from something very personal to me — my love for creativity and being able to create something beautiful with my own hands. I’ve always enjoyed putting colors, styles, and little details together, and making beads gave me a way to turn that creativity into something I could share with others.

What started small eventually became something I realized could grow into a real business. Seeing people connect with my creations, wear them, and support my work encouraged me to keep going. There have definitely been challenges along the way, but every order, new idea, and lesson has helped me grow both personally and as a business owner.

Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Beaded by Torre is more than just making accessories — it’s a reflection of my creativity, hard work, and determination to build something of my own. I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and seeing where this journey takes me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As the saying goes, “Anything worth having doesn’t come easy.” And honestly, that couldn’t be more true when it comes to my journey as an entrepreneur.

It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest struggles has been maintaining consistent orders while balancing a 9-to-3 job, running my business, and being a single mom of three. There are days when I’m exhausted and have to decide whether to work on an order, promote my business, spend time with my children, or simply take a moment to breathe.

Building a business takes time, patience, and consistency, and there have been plenty of moments when I questioned whether I should keep going. But I remind myself that I started this because I believe in my creativity and what I have to offer. Every order, every customer, and every small step forward reminds me that the hard work is worth it.

I may not be where I ultimately want to be yet, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’m learning, growing, and continuing to build something that is mine while showing my children what it looks like to work hard, dream big, and not give up.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Beaded by Torre is all about creating unique, handmade pieces that allow people to express their personality and style. I specialize in custom beaded accessories, paying close attention to the colors, patterns, and small details that make each piece special. I love being able to take an idea someone has and turn it into something they can actually wear and enjoy.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built this business while balancing a full-time 9-to-3 job and raising three children as a single mom. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve continued to create, learn, and push myself even during the slower seasons.

What sets me apart is the personal touch I put into my work. I’m not just making a product—I’m creating something with intention. I want my customers to feel like they’re getting a piece that was made specifically for them. My creativity, attention to detail, and willingness to keep growing are what make my business uniquely mine.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mom deserves a lot of credit because she is the one who introduced me to the craft and showed me how to create with beads. She gave me the foundation and inspired the creativity that eventually turned into my business.

My customers also deserve so much recognition. Every order, repeat customer, kind message, and word-of-mouth referral has encouraged me to keep going, especially during slower seasons. Their support reminds me that people appreciate the time and love I put into my work.

I’m also grateful for my friends who support me by reposting my business, sharing my work, and helping me get the word out. Sometimes something as simple as a repost can put my business in front of someone who may have never discovered me otherwise.

I truly believe I didn’t build this business alone. My mom gave me the skill, my customers gave me the motivation, and my friends have helped me spread the word. I’m grateful for every person who has supported me along the way.
