Rising Stars: Meet Joonyer Brijmon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joonyer Brijmon.

Hi Joonyer, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well I’m pk(preacher’s-kid) who started and still in the church. I’m born and raised in Augusta,GA. I found my love for music the first time not at church but on the morning bus to school, I was 6 years old and radio played three songs in a row that caught my attention. First it was Biggie’s one more chance, then it was Mary Mary Shackles and lastly it was Pharrell frontin. That was the first time I felt like wow I would love to do, I would love to provoke this array of feelings. Little did I know it would be another twenty years before I even start to embark on dream of creating art that not only glorifies God but also make music people can enjoy and live life too. Now today I’m taking the leap of faith to make that same array of feelings for a new generation.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it hasn’t been a smooth road honestly it’s a long narrow path. Creating or being creative isn’t hard, we do it everyday without even thinking about it. Whether it’s bringing a new life into the world, drawing a painting, making a beat or making a TikTok that’s the easy part. The struggles that come up are cares of this life, quitting before a breakthrough and dealing with self. The most important one is the business side of creative space. It’s not the knowledge of the business side, to me it’s just structure of the business that only benefits one side ultimately.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an artist/producer and I think people know me more for the production. I’m really happy for how my project Gods child Lp came out and how the textures of sounds throughout the project came together. I think what sets me apart from others is Im willing enough to let you know I don’t everything but I’m willing to learn, grow and become better.

What were you like growing up?
I was a cool kid but odd definitely had and still do have a big imagination. Somewhat an introvert I was always looking up at the sky and start crying because I felt the sky and stars were beautiful. So yeah more so a unique cold indeed I guess.
