Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanothyy.
Hi Shanothyy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My music journey began 2019 in Tampa, FL. I woke up one day and decided that I wanted to pursue music as a career. I had no idea how I was going to execute it but I knew this was my calling. I started going to meet ups at local studios such as Grandbay Studios and networking with other producers and artists. My network grew and the spaces I expanded to allowed me to meet other people. I eventually began a part of an independent label called LCD Entertainment in 2021. I dropped my first EP with my producer Ron Mercy, and performed regularly throughout the city. In 2022, I moved to Atlanta and immersed myself into different events, and experienced a period of significant growth as a person. Artist and personal development was crucial during this time. I worked closely with my collaborators Zende`, Top Ramiin, Lydae Jurvel, and Chris X for 3 years. Creating to cultivate my sound, but something in me was telling me to explore more. I started producing for Zende` in 2025 and I feel like I’ve found my purpose in music. The confidence Zende` had in me to curate his sound encouraged me to put myself out online and connect with other artists. Now I’m building my own ecosystem of artists who align with my ultimate goals in life. I’ll always be an artist but leaning into this producer role has been the next step in my journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Anything that has to be built from scratch will never be smooth. Life has ebbs and flows. I had to unlearn bad habits as a human being, I had to remove people from my life who no longer aligned with my journey. The invisible veil between the old version and new version of yourself is real. I went through many seasons of not knowing my true purpose in music. I had struggles with creative identity, struggles with wanting to be an artist again, struggles of believing music was my destiny. I’ve learned to lean into what truly interests me in music which is producing for others. You have to fail, you have to reflect, you have to have those hard conversations with yourself. I’m grateful for every obstacle I’ve had to experience to reach this point in my life.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an experimental r&b music producer, songwriter, and artist. My music is sexy, bouncy, groovy. It’s composed of dark smooth chords with bouncy kicks, heavy bass and ambient vocal chops. It’s a blend of r&b, dance, electronic, soul and hip-hop. I’m a lover girl who enjoys exploring the depths of romance and emotions through music. I love the finer things in life, I love being in a healthy relationship and living life to the fullest in my truest form. It’s sexual essence with substance that holds weight.
I’m most proud of the work I’ve been creating with the artists I work closely with. Nothing fuels me more than serving others. It takes a certain level of trust. It takes communication, it takes compatibility. That’s what makes me different from other producers. I care so deeply about the work I do. I care about satisfying what my artists need. This is beyond music, this is community.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Atlanta is the mecca for music. It’s black, it’s creative, it’s LBGT friendly, it’s everything that fits me as a person. I’m in an environment that has helped me grow exponentially. There’s always something going on here. You can meet someone new everyday who could align with what you’re pursuing. Atlanta isn’t perfect by any means, but it’s enough for me in this time in my life and I’m embracing wherever God takes me.
