Today we’d like to introduce you to Trooper Derrick Davis.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started in 1988 while working as a Atlanta Police Mounted Patrolman. I received a phone call from a individual who told me that he was a member of the Atlanta Buffalo Soliders, He observed me riding downtown on my Mount Puppy Horse and would love if l would consider joining his organization. He mentioned that since l was a skilled horseman, and carried myself in a military fashion, I would be a great asset. I joined and later spilt from that particular group and in 1995 The Greater Atlanta Area Chapter 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry Association., from there, we gained a charter from the National 9th 10th Horse Calvary Association AKA Buffalo Soldiers Organization in Las Vegas, But. After being a chartered member, I became involved with the National Association, serving as 1st Vice President for 3 years, and later serving as National President for 6 years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a Member/President of the Greater Atlanta Area Chapter Buffalo Soldiers has its challenges like most organizations, we truly have a close net chapter who all work towards the common goal of perpetuating the legacy of these legendary American heroes. So nothing is easy when working as a group, but we work as a family, and everyone has a voice.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
