Joe Salome shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Joe, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. When was the last time you felt true joy?
Over the summer I celebrated my 45th birthday.. the Major league baseball All-Star game was also here in Atlanta at Truist Park.
So my wife and daughter played off that theme and came up with 45 reasons I am there All-Star
They drew up a really cool logo and wrote down 45 reasons. I keep this poster on my wall now to look at every single day to realize impact and the potential opportunities that I have at home to foster my relationship with my family both individually with my wife and daughter and as a unit. This poster and 45 reasons that they put down really brought joy to me and made me realize how important I was to them and the impact that I am truly making at home and the opportunity I have to continue fostering that relationship with both my wife and daughter.
But those 45 reasons that I was an All-Star to them every day truly brings me joy when I look at it
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Joe Salome cofounder of The Georgia Hemp Company & Sympleaf Sport CBD. We found the companies back in 2017. My mom was a nurse and my dad was in the military, so I saw them give their lives for others. And when I left the corporate world, that’s exactly what my focus was. My why became individuals who needed this plant for many different reasons.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I think the entire world clearly sees you before you truly see yourself.
I believe it’s hard to visualize or understand your potential, your mission, your strengths. How you impact people and situations. When you have not experienced life seems patterns or trends in the world .
And visualize how you are integral to the world and its systems.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I think like many of the fear of failure is what’s held me back the most but interestingly enough the act of failure has helped me progress the most.
The action of Failure to launch and a negative self talk internal commentary was created from a fear of failure. and kept me from taking advantage of opportunities involving myself in growth and positive situations all while creating a negative self vision of myself and what I was capable of doing.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Authenticity. Staying true to myself and goals while navigating decisions with integrity and purpose. By Aligning my decisions, actions and interactions with my true self. My beliefs. My principles and my aspirations. All while navigating societal pressures. self-doubt and what are considered cultural norms.
I want to grow in ways that feel true and serve the purpose that I feel inside. While building trust and respect with my community
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
A son, a husband, and a father, a loyal friend, an advocate, a teacher, a volunteer An At alien , a person who dares to be different
