Story & Lesson Highlights with Sennika pressley of Jonesboro

We recently had the chance to connect with Sennika pressley and have shared our conversation below.

Sennika, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
One thing that is bringing me joy outside of work lately is going to the movies. The movie theater is like my home away from home. It feels good to escape reality sometimes and indulge in a great film.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sennika “Duchess” Pressley and I am the owner of Trap Denim Customs and Spiritual Toonz Hair jewelry. What makes my brand’s unique is being able to show my creativity through art and my love for anime/cartoons. I am currently working in new projects and content to showcase new creations.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I believed that I was invisible. I felt at times I was not seen or heard because I felt that I would not be accepted for who I am. Now that I am older, I see that I just needed to be more open to being comfortable with who I am as a person. I can say I was very shy when I was younger and now I would say I am a social butterfly.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
A fear that has held me back the most in my life is the fear of not being accepted. I was not always comfortable with sharing things I was interested in with people because I felt like I would be judged. It took some time for me to learn how to be comfortable in my own skin and once I made it through that area in my life I have learned to accept that is okay to not be accepted by everyone. Learning to love and respect yourself helps you create healthy boundaries for yourself.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I can say that the public version of myself is the real me. I believe that it would serve me no purpose to change who I am when I walk out my door and step into the world. I am very comfortable with who I am and still learning and growing as continue my journey.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew that I only had 10 years left, I would stop second guessing new ideas to pursue and just go for it. The fear of failure crosses my mind when I think of new ideas. I would write out a whole plan then begin to overthink. I am currently working on not second guessing and working towards bringing some of my new ideas to life.
