Story & Lesson Highlights with Tiana Thomas of South Atlanta

Tiana Thomas shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Tiana, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Being a fulltime Minister doesn’t stop! My day begins with morning prayer. A gratitude walk or run. Reading scripture and then a fixing of a nutritious breakfast. As the day goes on, I interact with the women of my women’s ministry. At any point, I am susceptible to be a point of contact for prayer, guidance, and assistance. Oh! I’m also a full-time graduate student! So, there’s assignments and LOTS of reading to be done. Then there’s class 4 times a week via Zoom. So, yea. that is the gist of it all!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Tiana. Many call me Tee and now, Minister Tiana. I am a Minister and Seminary student pursuing a Master of Divinity. I have a women’s ministry that aims to equip and empower women to become disciples. Ladies of Promise, was birthed in my dreams and in my prayer closet in my time of intimacy with God. I wanted to create a space where women can grow into the image God has called them to be in. I also wanted a spiritual sisterhood, one where we can gather, learn, love, and grow. No one is competition with no one, yet, we’re all souls needing savior.

Ladies of Promise is just the beginning of ministry for me. I seek to sought out all of God’s children who are struggling with identity, purpose, poverty, family issues, and confidence.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was the most purest, loving, and thoughtful little girl.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
We all have to endure suffering, just as Christ did. Suffering refines you and makes you stronger than ever before. Use it as a tool to push you to the next level of being steadily made in God’s image.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads are packaged as glamour and convenience. In the end. You can take routes to shortcut your way through life but when your reality gets tough, you have no foundation to rely on to navigate through adversity. Foundational shifts provide a genuine and strategic roadmap to how to face adversity head on and hope to lean on in times of oppression. It provides sense of fulfillment knowing that you have the keys to unlock the most difficult doors, it just takes patience and strategy.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My faith!
