We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tree Lyiness. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Tree , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I have been volunteering at the reptile shelter G.H.A.R.for a year now. I started it to learn more about bearded dragons. However I am now the proud mom of an iguana named Keeko and an adorable 14 year old bearded dragon named Eddie Bettie!
I have so much fun I’ve learned so much about so many creatures. Every time I go I never know what I’ll see or experience!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tree Lyiness. I am a full-time creator—art is not just what I do, it’s how I exist. I live and breathe creativity, constantly exploring and experimenting across a wide range of mediums. Whether I’m painting, sculpting, sewing, or inventing entirely new forms, I’m always drawn to the beauty in the unexpected. I transform discarded materials and overlooked objects into expressive, meaningful pieces. My art is a direct reflection of my inner world—my thoughts, emotions, triumphs, and failures. Every piece tells part of my story. I believe creating art is my calling, and I pursue it with deep dedication and unstoppable determination. From handmade stickers to immersive cardboard installations large enough to walk through, I aim to connect with others through both whimsy and wonder. My studio, located inside Echo Contemporary Art Gallery, is an open, welcoming space where creativity thrives. With prices starting at just $5, there’s something for everyone—whether you’re collecting, browsing, or simply coming to be inspired.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Early on I was told art is a hobby not a job. I believed a had to run the rat race and do a job I hate to survive. I did that most of my life .Then I found a job I loved and thought I was doing good only to find out it’s corrupt and I am replaceable with cheaper labor.
Options of others no longer serve me. I took a leap of faith beginning my art career I’m 7 years in and so happy. My only regret …. Not doing it sooner.
I will say it is NOT easier. My drive is strong and I have let go of options of others and comparison.
I am the only me.
I was put here to create.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Use YOUR free will. Explore more. Don’t EVER make an excuse. You can wear anything you want (style rules aren’t real ). Try ALL the things. Everything is made up don’t follow the crowd or social norms do what makes you feel good.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I am so inspired by Leonardo Da Vince for his brain the way he looks at art drawing his subject from all angles to understand it better. The way his brain jumped from project to inventions he was a creator. His curiosity drove him to explore things no one else was thinking of yet. He ignored the naysayers and continued to create.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand that once you’ve found your purpose and begin pursuing it the universe will provide. You have to make that leap of faith, but continue pushing in what you’re meant to do and everything will fall into place just as it should..
