Story & Lesson Highlights with Zay Blaze of Douglasville

Zay Blaze shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Zay, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What battle are you avoiding?
The main battle that I’m avoiding is coming to turns with the fact that I’m officially an adult, and being an adult is a never ending struggle

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Zay Blaze. I’m an R&B, singer, rapper producer and engineer from Atlanta, Georgia.
I live and breathe R&B I even picked up Guitar during the pandemic to use for more R&B sounds

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
As a kid, all the grown up – teachers, friends parents, faculty in school- always said I was super talented and would grow up to be big. I never believed it or saw it until I got older and saw the power of my presence and talent. That’s a real confidence booster!

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I am super socially awkward and I do have social anxiety. That has been my biggest downfall. I’ve recently been learning to get through it but I am very self aware. And that has caused me to miss out on opportunities

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
100% yes. I’m a very face value person. I’m very thoughtful and considerate however I also am and extremely goofy person. I like to troll the people closest to me. Other than that. I am the exact same person that I seem to be

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If immortality were real, what would you build?
I would work tirelessly to bring the music industry back to what it was before social media commodified and oversaturated the music scene. I’d make it to where real talent and hard work is what mattered most and not just how well you can game an algorithm
