My experiences in that environment significantly impacted my view of the Church. I not only saw the church members in the church, but outside of it—where they drank, smoked, cussed, partied, and did everything else. They were one way in the church and another outside of it. They were on the usher boards, serving as deacons, and holding other positions. As a young believer, seeing this up close and personal helped me come into the understanding and realization that people may have been in the church, but they were not IN Jesus Christ. Read more>>

On the personal side, I’ve walked through betrayal, loss, and health struggles. Most recently, I’ve had to step into an even greater level of responsibility as a single mother of two young children under 10, one of whom was recently diagnosed with autism. That reality requires a different set of skills: balancing advocacy, care, and strength every single day. But it has also fueled my passion for creating systems and communities that don’t just talk about equity but truly live it, where families like mine are supported and seen. Read more>>

Fantastic article/interview with the up and coming Yo-Pro Joseph Lucido…how inspiring to read about a young man’s dreams in articulate fashion with clear vision and strong work ethics. A suggestion…you all should check back in on individuals you feature in a 2 to 5 years period and see where they are personally and professionally. Individuals like myself who enjoy your publication would appreciate that type of continuity and thoroughness.
